Mabey This Will Help

Do you have a boost gauge in your truck? If your boost psi is in specs do this test, unplug the map senson, measure the voltage between ground and the orange wire (terminal a) voltage should be 4.75-5.25V. If not let me know and I will tell you the next diagnosis step. Also do you have any other diagnostic codes?

MAP sensor issue on 98.5 24V

Does the MAP sensor make your truck shift weird and hardly able to put the truck in drive with out it dieing. The reason I ask is that it's doing the exact same things as when I had the MAP sensor replaced 1.5 years ago. I have no codes that I know of (no tool) and engine light is not on, same as a year and half ago???

Have you had your MAP unplugged lately and turned the key on by accident?

P0236 is MAP sensor too high too long. Your Comp should keep this one from ever showing up, but if you had the MAP unplugged and the Comp not plugged in line, this code would show up if you turned the key on.

I dont have an Auto but if you bring it to an autozone they will check it for free, I would if i were in your situation. There was a Thread on here not to long ago about a truck dying when putting it in drive. If i find it ill post it up here.

I've had this code since I got my Smarty. Clear it, and it returns. I don't think this code is from an overboost condition (theres already a code for that, P0234). In the tech facts, it lists the P0236 as a Turbocharger Boost Pressure Sensor Performance / Rationality code, so it seems it would be because the MAP sensor is malfunctioning and out of range. But I've been wrong before.
