p0148 code... question..

I did a search, and found that a p0148 code is fuel delivery error. I was on my way to get fuel, and the truck died on me. Got it started again, and then it died. Went to the nearest gas station, got 1 gallon of diesel, and it fired up. I drove to the gas station, about 100 feet away, and put $40 in. Its running great now, but I have a check engine and the p0148 code. Can a p0148 code be thrown if I run it out of fuel? It was low, but I did not think it was out. It seems to be running just fine now, and the fuel pressure gauge is staying in the normal range. I replaced the lift pump at 22k miles with an in tank pusher pump, so I am hoping thats not the problem. The truck only has 43k on it now. Is this something I should wait out, and see if it clears itself? In other words, would running the truck out of fuel cause it to throw this code? Thanks!

I know if I get the codes cleared, it should not be a problem, but I am just wondering if running the truck out of fuel would cause the CEL and the code. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow to have it checked out. Does the fuel system count as part of the "drivetrain"? Just wondering if there is something wrong, will it still be covered under warranty?

I am pretty sure you got that code from running your truck out of fuel.......
clear it run the truck if it comes back then worry.....but I am sure it was from the low fuel.

Well, its sitting at the dealer.. I wanted to be sure that there was nothing else wrong with it. They haven't called me back, but it should be covered under warranty, and at most I will have to pay $100 deductible, but i am hoping thats not the case.

the first thing it tells the dealer to look at is to make sure the fuel level is above 15% with the DRB tool.....it threw the code cause you ran it out fuel, hope they don't charge you a 100 bucks for that

0148 Code??? Here is a quick and cheap way to check it... When was the last time you changed the fuel filter??? Did you have rough idling also???They do need to be changed requarlly (10-15k) depending on driving styles. This comes from 8yrs of running the Army's engine rebuild shop for boats. Maintenance is the best way to extend that extra investment that you paid for.

I change the fuel filter every 15k. I am trying to remember when it was changed last, but it shouldn't be due for one. I talked to the dealer today, and they said I had some sort of issue with my fuel pressure, but they could not figure out what it was yet. I think if they don't find it, I may be out $100 for them to reset the codes Sucky for me, maybe I shoulda just let it be. Now you have me curious as to when the last fuel filter change was... I think it was no more than about 8k miles ago though.

I keep a log book on all my vehicles. I record any maintenance, date, miles on OD, fuel gallons, cost and where I bought it.

I don't have to guess at when the last change was.

I log everything as well.. So, you aren't the only one. Just because I don't remember when the filter was changed doesn't mean jack. I document it all, but the pad stays in the truck center console. The truck as of yesterday was at the dealership, as was the documentation of the fuel filter change. So, before you assume someone doesn't document maintenance, get both sides of the story. Anyway.. I got the truck back, and as suspsected, they couldn't find a thing wrong with it. I filled it up tonight, and I don't have any issues. My guess is I ran it out of fuel. And no, they didn't charge me anything. In the service writers words, "We didn't find anything, so you don't get charged anything"... Not even labor charged... Anyone in the Inland Empire check out Redlands Dodge for service.
