my 06 idles fine for a few seconds then chokes down and almost dies, then picks back up and runs fine for a few more seconds till it does it again, put in a new lift pump and fresh filter, didnt help, runs fine at any rpm above idle, scared to drive it dont want to mess it up worse, havent taken it to the dealer because our dealer here sucks, turned my edge juice to stock and its showing the p0148 fuel delivery error code, any suggestions i should try?, thanks..

P0148-HIGH PRESSURE COMMON RAIL (HPCR) CHECKSUM
For a complete wiring diagram Refer to Section 8W.
² When Monitored:
While the engine is running.
² Set Condition:
A deviation between the fuel pressure set point and the actual fuel pressure.
Possible Causes
OTHERS DTC’S PRESENT
FUEL LEAKS
FUEL CONTROL ACTUATOR
FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR
CASCADE OVERFLOW VALVE
CHECK VALVE DAMAGED OR BLOCKED
FUEL RETURN LINES OBSTRUCTION, DAMAGE, OR DEBRIS
LIFT PUMP FLOW
AIR IN FUEL SYSTEM
LEAKING FUEL INJECTORS OR HIGH PRESSURE CONNECTORS
PRESSURE LIMITING VALVE
HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP
INTERMITTENT CONDITION

I have the same issue on my 2004.5 - it is like it hick ups while idling.

I have 170K on the truck - i was thinking maybe it is bad injectors. You are correct in that it runs just fine above idle - I continue to drive mine. Let me know what you find out.

the dealership replaced the fuel pressure regulator on the inj pump today, runs fine now wasnt the injectors thank goodness, was only 500 bucks with labor and parts..
