oversize tires on stock 2001 2500 4x4

i've been reading numerous tire questions and comments and think I better just ask. I have an 01 2500 4x4 dsl with a 2" levelling kit, what is the largest tire I can run on the stock 16" wheel? does anyone know the widest tire without rubbing?

thanks alot

I have been running 3157516's but find that the tire weight and size make for an rougher ride (due to side wall flex) as they only come in load range D. I am looking at going with 3057016's next time which are load range E.

If you have the aluminum wheels they are 16x8. 315/75r16 will fit but do rub on the control arms usually at full lock. 295/75r16 would be another option if you want the most height wthout rubbing.

If you want to get a little crazy, Interco's SSR comes in a 35x10.5x16. Same height as the 315/75r16, but narrower.

At a 16" rim it's mostly about maximum tire size on rim width. Check Tirerack.com for specs on some tires you're interested in and that will tell you the maximum tire size on the rims you have. Steel rims and alloy rims are different widths. If you are going to get bigger rims I would seriously suggest you get at least 17" rims so you can do the "big brake update" in the future. I have 315/70R17s on my stock truck and they only rub the fender liner on a full lock turn....
