Re:overhead mileage readout is blank

My temp and compass reading very occasionally only has lines thru it. Shut it down and start it up and it is fine for weeks.

Re:overhead mileage readout is blank

Mine does precisely the same thing. Somewhere it's collecting data though - the trip odometer still matches the one in the dash even if I've been driving with "----" in the overhead console for awhile. I dunno if it throws off the mileage calculation. Sometime I'm going to get off my lazy butt and figure out my real mileage and see how accurate/ inaccurate that calculator is.

Re:overhead mileage readout is blank

Count me in as one who has experienced this abnormality. It has happened two times since I got my truck in January. After shutting the truck off it returns to normal the next time it is fired up. I am not going to lose any sleep unless it starts to occur a lot more frequently.

:
Mine does it as well. Turning the ignition off then on cures it, until next time. Has occured 3 times since May. Pete

Re:overhead mileage readout is blank

From what i've seen, this is a common fluke with the overhead console. I haven't heard of any fixes as of yet, but I bet DC will eventually have some type of "flash" for it.

Stuck at 88

Mine was stuck at 88 a couple days ago. But then I found out that's what the actual temperature was :P

Re:overhead mileage readout is blank

This happened to mine too. FWIW, I drove a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee rental the other day and it had an updated overhead console that we might get for 2004? The display is slightly different and has a very cool menu which allows you to set things such as "lock doors at 15 mph?" "auto unlock (all) doors when opening drive door?" "blink lights on lock?" "sound horn on lock?" and this one I like a lot "maintenance interval 2000, 4000, 6000 miles"...

Yeah this updated console is also mentioned in the service manual. Maybe I can convince the dealer to swap it out for me.......

The Jeeps have had that overhead display since at least 2001, and my sister's '03 Liberty has it as well. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it will make it's way into the Ram's ???

Re:overhead mileage readout is blank

My truck has done this one time...17,000 miles now.

I am ignoring it!
