Plastic tab on the storage compartment of the overhead console broke off today, door just hangs down now. Anybody ever taken the "door" off from the console? Tried but was afraid of breaking more than what is already broken.

 

If I recall someone said the dealer wont sell just the door. I used a small piece of velcro and it works very well.

Tried to pry the door out a while ago, and again was afraid of breaking the whole console. Used duct tape on the inside to hold it up for now. I will try the velcro trick when I remember to buy some.

You can just buy the door. I had to buy one about a year ago, and if I remember right it was only $32. I took the console down to replace it but I think you can hold down the metal tabs and slide the door right out.

Thanks Darell, I stand corrected. I may just have to check into that. I think my door broke within the first year and read that you couldn't get a door so I never even checked. The velcro has worked fine for the past 2 years but a new door would be better.

 

Mine broke too. I have a new one waiting to be picked up at the dealer. $20 w/o tax. Dealer said to push metal tabs down and slide door out. Hope this work - haven't tried it yet...
