Out of the Dodge Business.... For a little while anyway.....
Well I did it yesterday. I traded in the dodge. I just didn’t need it anymore and I couldn’t justify keeping it. I sold everything that we used to tow and we are getting ready to incur a lot of expenses with the move if it ever goes through.
My wife and I stopped by the Toyota dealership and I ended up buying a 2005 Toyota Prius Hybrid. I have wanted a hybrid for a while and I have always liked the Toyota. We got a pretty good deal on the trade in on the truck and the decrease in our monthly payment will be a welcome change not to mention the fuel mileage increase. Already we are seeing 47 MPG with the Multi Function Display Screen.
We were real lucky in getting the Prius as there is a waiting list until February. They just happened to unload 2 Red Prius right before we arrived and I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
Now for the kicker. My wife decided that she wanted the other one while we were there. So we bought it also. Now we have identical cars. Same color, options, everything….. If she is happy, I’m happy.
These are really nice cars and the technology is impressive. If we get just 40 MPG we will save over $150 a month in fuel alone. Then throw in the savings on the payment and we are looking pretty good.
I will try to take some pictures tomorrow.
Until then….
Britt

Wow thats a change. I personaly couldent do it but to each his own. I HAVE to have a truck. Not one this big buit a S-10 at least. To much snow in the winter and I have to be able to pull the 2 quads to the riding area. The thought has crossed my mind as the wife and I are thinking of kids in the next year and it would be nice to lessen the bills a bit(ok a lot).

T-7, 47 is decent milage but you can get that with the Jetta TDI as well.
The one thing to remember is DO NOT RUN THE BATTERIES DOWN ON THE PRIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last I heard (1 1/2 months ago) was that there were only 3 chargers for the battery system in the US and it costs 500 an hour to check then charge up the batteries. You can drive the Prius with out gas in the tank because of the battery power, but dont! Make sure you fill up. Killing the batteries is something that happens quite a bit, but isnt advertised a lot (obvious reasons).
Other then that, the only problem with the Prius that I know of is that there are not many people who know what they are doing when it comes to working on them (kinda like cummins at a dodge dealership). Good luck with your purchase, and if it makes you feel any better by the time you are ready to buy a Dodge again, you can get the same year and the engine will still be going strong.
