I ordered some Opti-Lube
Hey guys, I ordered some opti-lube summer blend last night(it's not gonna be cold enough to need winter or xpd blend now) and was wondering if anyone else has tried it. I was also wondering why use 2 stroke oil when the opti-lube is quite a bit cheaper per treated gallon/tank of diesel however you look at it and scored better on the lubricity test of Alvin Spicers?

30 gallons of 2 stroke for $3? You must have connections somewhere. It's $11 a gallon at Wal-Mart which is where nearly everybody buys their tcw3. I paid about $20 for a quart of opti-lube to treat 750 gallons(3000:1 ratio) so it's about 2.5 cents a treated gallon where as 2 stroke from walmart at 1 oz/gallon would be about 8.5 cents a treated gallon.

Hey rattlebox, I would be interested to read that lubricity test. I use biodiesel since I have easy access and it is the same price as other, making it essentially free (for the lubricity). Good luck with the opti lube, let us know how you like it.

Oh, ok. $3 a tank. The opti-lube is still quite a bit cheaper though. The ratio I've been using of stroke (1 oz/gallon) would be $2.55 for a 30 gallon tank and the opti-lube will cost .75 cents for a 30 gallon tank. Here is the link to the lubricity test. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42304/Diesel...itive_test.pdf It says it costs .68 cents to treat a 26 gallon tank with opti lube summer blend and $1.11 with 2 stroke but they only treat with a 200:1 ratio.

I've used Opti-Lube summer blend for about 2 years now. I bought a gallon of it and can't remember the price. I use 1/2 - 1 ounce per 20 gallons. Usually about 1 1/2 ounces per full tank. Don't know about the mileage or lubricity improvement but, can't hurt, might help. I've also used 2 stroke and that gets pretty expensive quick.

I'm using Opti-Lube XPD it says right on the bottle to use it at 1/4 to 1/2 oz per gallon of Diesel . All i can report, as I just started using it today. ( does seem to make the engine run quieter)
