The truck (and driver) died in a crash in 94, but I know a buddy of my mom's had his in fall '88. Had a Getrag as well.

IIRC - Dodge actually had a Cummins diesel engine as an option in their 46 -47 Dodge 1.5 - 2.5 ton trucks.

i spent a few months in peru and bolivia last year, they have those medium duty trucks are all over the place. I don't speak a lick of spanish so I couldn't ask about them, but the majority were diesel. A lot looked to be in very, very, good condition, so i wonder if they were making them later or continued to make parts. The roads are terrible, people drive like psychos, and the loads some of those 2 tons had.....

One of my friends worked in Saudi for the oil fields in late 60's and early 70's (ARAMCO) where they had lots of the 4x4 Dodge (Fargo) w/ perkins. They would get wrecked frequently, but he was most sad :( to see the new fleets arrive annually, then they dug a big trench with a dozer and drove the old Fargos in and buried them [verymad]. I only remember driving those models with the big block gas engines, and especially remember how tough they were to steer.

Hey guys, Taterfarm gave you all a great link to the medium duty trucks, Just today i found a 1975 d-500 here in north carolina. it has 22,000 mi. + or - it was used to haul a water tank around at a north carolina hospital. the cab is in excellent condition. anyway i intend to purchase it and drop a p-pump into it and have the cab extended. i want it to pull my camper. Also if you check out sweptline web site i highly recommend you check out link to olddodgetrucks.com that is on the page.the Youngblood family restores the old dodge big ram semi tractor's. One of the coolest looking truck that ever pulled a load. CHECK THESE SITES OUT!!!! Augie Dog
