Ok to use a regualr bolt for battery terminal?

Last week when I did an apps reset, I had trouble loosening the bolt on one of the neg. battery terminals. I ended up stripping it pretty good. Got it on back on there after the reset, but I couldn't get it as tight as I wanted. After a week of driving, I've noticed that it doesn't crank as well as it used to. Today I removed that stripped bolt and tossed one in that I had laying around in the tool box to get her good-n-tight. Is this ok, or do those bolts need to be similar to the factory ones? I hope this helps my cranking issues cuz I don't feel like buying new bats.

Thanks.

You should be fine with a regular bolt. Make sure your terminals are clean. TG
