Hi Guys

I'm ordering hose to add some leight to move my amsoil filters ...seems like the size I need has a max temp rating to 200 degree's F , what is the max the oil temp would get too.

I would think oil temp would run real close to water temp.

Thats what I would figure ... the stuff I have if for oil and hydrolic fluids ... max pressure is 400 psi , but the temp is only rated for 200 degree's ...

I guess I will keep looking .

Not sure if they sell by the foot or not. If you are running short distances, then alot guys use grease gun hose.

My oil temp typically runs between 165-185*, depending on ambient temp. Peak has been 204 after a long hard uphill run.....

Runs almost exactly what the water temp runs, just comes up a little quicker.

I kind-a figured thats what it would run ...I figured internaly it would be about 20degrees higher in the engine block it self ...
I had a guy tell me he was hitting 260 ...holy crap , the coolant boils at 212 so I would feel thats a little hot .
I'm sure this hose will be fine ...if not perma cool has a 300 degree hose , but I'm not sure it will fit my connector fittings ...I'll worry about if it is a problem .

Engine oil is cooled by antifreeze/coolant. If engine (coolant) temp go up to 230°F then you better get hose rated for more.

50/50 coolant boils around 260°F in a pressurized system.

Whoa... I'd watch out. I personally wouldn't run hose rated at 200 F if I were in your situation. Cause over the next 5 years, if that hose pops off just once while you're driving on the highway, it could instantly drain all your motor oil and fry your engine. When I relocated my oil filter, the instructions from Perma-Cool said to use 300 F hydraulic hose. I'd say something that could handle at least 60 psi at 300 F. Anyway, I ended up getting 3/4" hydraulic hose w/ max temp. 300 F at 150 psi. Cost near $10/ft. but at least I have peace of mind...

I went to that dicount hose place that KD460 had posted ..I am close to philly and so I ran down there ...They hooked me up with a 300+ degree hose that is for oil and fuel aplacation ...
And pretty good price , for 2 6ft hose's with ends and 2 extra fittings ...80 bucks cash ...
I was not to happy that they were push-on fittings , I will still put smooth bore fuel injection clamps ...its just me .
Not bad for piece of mind ...

Good choice! But what are "smooth bore fuel injection clamps?"

They are a smooth band clamp that do not have the little screw cuts in the band ...so when the clamp applys pressure it dose not cut into the hose .... there rated for around 125psi .

Mainlly stainless steel use in the fuel injection systems of cars ...I tracked down some larger ones for my needs .

I'm kind-a old school ...if I'm using presure and oil ... and no clamp ...I dont feel right , the company says it's use's them like this all the time ...I'm still puting a clamp on each end .

Hi guys

I sent most of the day puyying the finshing touches on my new to me 96 ... I did the KDP , new seal in the vacume pump , new fan bearing , fan clutch , all the cooling hoses , the belt , the fan , and I was moving the amsoil filters to a location just under the passengers side ... the old hose were all cut up and needing replacing .

So I went to the Discount Hydraulic place ... the one with the link on this thread....The fitting on the return side of the feed from the motor... the fitting fractured and colapse in on it self ...
Lucklly is was on the return side ... I don't even want to think if it was on the feed side ... this was 5mins into the fire up ... it had a little drip , I went to snug it up , then started it up ...oil every where , the fitting seemed to split in to 2 large chunks ... not cool .
I would not recomend them if you were looking for new hose ... I even asked the guy when I bought the hose if there fittings would do the job ... he said he never had a problem ...then I told him the hose's he was making are for a $10,000 motor and if they let lose the motors trash ... I knew for from the look on his face ... he had no clue .
So I called my local amsoil guy ...Like I should have ... never play games , I did not mind spening the money I just assumed I could find them local ...

So my amsoil guy is going to order the hose's and ends to do the job right .

Wow, that's horrible. What a mess! Were the fittings made out of brass? By fitting you mean a barbed nipple for push-on hose right? If they were made out of brass I'm surprised it would break like that. Actually kinda scary for me cause that's what I'm running...

Yes they were the hose barb type ...Looks to me as if the threads just cracked and scaled off in pieces ... not cool , most likelly cheap china.

They looked good when i put them on ...I am going to try and get my 80 bucks back tomarrow .

Go raise a stink! Sorry if I refferred you to a bum dealer, but to give them the benifit of the doubt, go talk to them, see what they will do for you, might have been just a bad fitting, and if no visable cracks, how would they know? But then again, if they a cheap fittings, then no excuse.

They were recommended to me, but I never used them before except for just hose. Why didn't you just change out the damaged fitting?

However, seems like you have it all figured out, glad it's up and running for you.
