I use mobile delvac 1300 15w40 but there are countless others just make sure its diesel rated 15w40 weight. If your asking if there is a certain oil that goes in that particuliar engine then no its whatever you prefer as long as its rated for diesel engines 15w40 is the most common weight.

I guess I am the disenter, Valvoliene Premium Blue 15w-40, I pick it up at Cummins when I get my Fleetgaurd Stratapore, less than $50 for the oil change.

As you can see we use a variety of oils, based on preferance, and avallibility... So you should pick a favorite, and then you can cast a vote next time the question comes up

One thing I should have mentioned in my first post is not to mix oils, as their additive packages may not be compatiable. (if you need to add some in between oil changes)

anyone use the rotella 'low-ash' oil yet? i think it's a "cp-i" or "cp-j" or "cj-p" or something. i was reading the article in diesel power mag a couple months back on low-sulpher diesel. it sez this new type of oil greatly reduces the soot and particles in the oil.
i use schafers with molly...delo if'n i don't have schafers

Probably the newly licensed API CJ-4 oil. Anyone running a pre 07 engine should stay with CI-4 oils. Once you compare the pricing you'll se the first reason. Second reason is that you gain NO benefit running the CJ-4 oil.

Back to original question.
I run Delvac 1 5W-40 synthetic. The reason is mainly for winter cold starting plus I run extended drain.

So will they continue to make the CI-4 as well, or will the new CJ-4 superseed it?
