Oil Seepage behind turbo????

As I was under my truck looking things over I saw some Seepage/Residue from behind the turbo. Near where I believe it;s the oil return line to the block. Does not appear to be coming from the Return line itself, and it not coming from the top side. Kind of looks like it is all around the center piece coming from the BAck of the turbo. Any ideas? Nothing to cause a drip or anything, just seepage. Is this where theturbo seal is????? Would my Pacbrake cause this? ThankS!

Monty,

Mine is leaking in the same place, between the compressor housing and the part of the turbo that houses the bearings and shaft. It has been leaking there for some time. I brought it to the dealer once, but I made the mistake of cleaning the area to verify that is where the leak is coming from, and apparently it didn't look like it was leaking enough to be a problem so the dealer said it was normal. Now the back side of the compressor housing is virtually covered with oil again so I'll be taking it back to the dealer soon.

Ptgarcia, I was GOING to go clean it of and see if it returned, but did notmake the mistake you did.. LOLOLOL I left it there and took it into the Dealership here in Paso Robles. Real good guys. Got me right in and took a look. He said on the paperwork that I had " A small amount of RESIDUE from the Rear E-Clip on the back of the turbo." They determined it was Normal Seepage caused by the expansion and cooling of the E-clip and that Virtually all cummins they see have this oil seepage. They noted on the paperwork that no oil was escaping from the engine, no turbo damage would be caused, Normal.

They Had absolutely NO problems with my gauges ( Which is good) and they askedme how I liked my Pac-Brake. I thought they would give me grief over the Pac brake but they didn't. He verified that the turbo is covered under the 100,000 mile Engine warranty and If it got worse to bring it back in.

SO for Now, A-OK..... I guess to repair that part he said they had to remove the front of the motor? Weird! ThankU

Okay, sounds like they won't replace the turbo unless the dang thing completely lets loose. Par for the coarse.

No need to remove the front of the motor on the 5.9. Not sure what he meant by that.
