Oil pressure!?!?!

Ok, so when i start my pickup the oil pressure light stays on for about 2 or 3 seconds and then shuts off and the gauge slowly climbs to operating pressure. I unhooked the line to the turbo and started the truck (having just cooked the he351 because of it) and saw no oil come out of the line for about the forst 3 seconds then it picked up just like the gauge did. My question is shouldnt this line have pressure as soon as the truck is started? And if it is a problem what do i need to do to fix it?

Thanks,
-Chris

I see that as normal operation. Pretty-much why one needs to let things settle down before getting on the throttle heavy first thing.

It's not going have oil instantly. It takes a few seconds as you found for the oil pump to pressurize the system. It has to fill the main oil rifle and reach all the main and rod bearings as well. If it's that much of a concern, maybe you could install a check valve in the oil supply line to the turbo, if there is such a thing out there for that.
