Oil pressure gauge reads high

The gauge moves to the high end of the normal range and stays there while truck is running. It used to run consistently just below the half way mark. Anybody ever had a similar problem? I figure there is pressure or I would get no reading at all... sender unit? (dont even know where to look for that?) gauge itself? HELP?

The dash gauge isn't really a gauge. Make friends with your dealers service guys and get them to hook up the DRB and you will be able to see the real oil pressure.

So what is that gauge telling us? Just that we have some kind of pressure?
Has anyone hooked up a real mechanical oil pressure gauge on their CTD?

I had the same problem. My gauge always read in the center of the normal range. One day, the gauge jumped up to the high end of the normal range while driving. then back down to the center when stopped. I took it into the dealer and they said it was a bad sensor. They said the sensor free of charge under the Cummins warrenty. When i picked it up, the gauge read about 3/4 into the normal range. I took it back and they said that was normal.

Mine shows about 3/4 into normal range all the time as well. Never been an issue.

Mine does that to so I bought a $15 guage from Autozone and hooked it up mounted it down by the 4WD shifter and now I don't have to wonder what my oil pressure is! My will take spells where it will drop to 0psi and I freaked so I bought the real gauge and now I feel so much better when the dash guage drops to 0 I look at the real guage.

I'm starting to think I have a guage fetish??????? My dad says when he drives it he doesn't know whether to let out on the clutch or get permission for take off!

My sensor went south about 3 years ago and I put in a $15 gauge and feel much safer about accurate readings. The drawback is that you will always have the low oil pressure light shining in your face (I guess you can disconnect it, I just never did).
