Question Oil By Pass Systems

I have been reading through the threads and I have a few questions-

What do you all think about the tp type filters?

Have any of you all made a home made dual filter system that works well?

What is a good aftermarket kit that won't break the bank and is a quality product?

Thanks ya'll

TP is a very good filtration system but you have to change the TP every 2000-3000 miles. I ran one for awhile. Now I run an Amsoil setup. Much easier to spin on the filter and less mess. The TP filter is probably going to clean the oil better BUT at more of an inconvienience. Imo.
The TP one I ran was from Ralph Wood (Motorguard).

I run an OilGuard system on mine. This is the second truck I've used one on and like it.

I seriously considered one of these sytems a few years ago. I managed to talk myself out of it. In reality, 99.9% of trucks will be abondoned by the owner/installer, BEFORE they ever see any kind of return from the extra filtration.

I love my truck and plan to keep it forever................

But I said that about the last 3 trucks I've owned and somehow I find some reason to get rid of it.

I ran an Oilguard also. I had excellent oil analysis from every setup I ran. Still have the Oilguard sitting in my garage.

Hello,

From what I have read this is one of the best systems. Excellent micron level filtration.

Kleeno Oil by-pass system http://www.kleenoil.ca/features.htm

Hello,

Best I can tell is you need to email the US distributor in Tx. Check
out.www.kleenoilusa.com

I was interested also and emailed them today. If I get a response I will post it.

You'll probably have to contact one of the dealers. It looks like it uses rolled paper filters similar to a TP filter setup. I'm sure it works well but I'm also sure it's $$$.
Any bypass filtration is better than no bypass filtration. Do some reading on Bobistheoilguy.com in the bypass filter forum. Do the research and make your decision. I know the FS2000 is crazy expensive also. Not knocking any of them I just don't see the benefit of spending $500-$600 when you can get away with $100 or so and get the same results. JMHO.

you are causing at least a 1,000 times more wear on the engine from dirt passing through the k&n filter than the help of the bypass filter. replace your filter box and add a psm kit to it and use the fleetguard filter in it. as far as the bypass filter the best is the tp and the centrifuge filters the kleenoil is in the tp class. there is a gap between these filters and the others the amsoil,fs2500, cat, luberfiner, imperial, fleetguard and many others are near enough the same as to not make any difference. in all but the centrifuge you need to run them until they no longer flow oil this is the point the filter works its best. if you touch the filter housing after a run and it is warm it is ok. i am starting to use a cartridge made by luberfiner lfp9750 the reason is it has material in it to keep from reducing the oils tbn but it holds so much oil i do not want to leave the oil in there at oil change so i remove the cartridge and drain and replace based on how long this cartridge last on our large engines i think i can get 500,000+ miles before change. your truck has a in cylinder egr scheme that started in 04.5 models up and this causes tremendous amounts of carbon in the oil and they have a definite need of the bypass filter. if you do the following you can remove the egr effect and your oil will clear up. drop egt and gain 4.5 mpg a smarty jr or sr, a pdr cam, and ddp 50 hp nozzles. the tp and centrifuge filters are the only type that can substantially reduce the soot levels in the 04.5 up and the soot level in the oil is what determines the oil change interval in them. that is why it is useless to use synthetic in them you are going to have to change oil at exactly the same time as dino. one more thought, on the tp filter we did not get but about 2500 miles on one on pre 04.5s i would hate to guess the miles on the 04.5 up but could not be more than a 1,000

Bear with me, I have a few questions.

1. What is a psm kit?
2. I have the Banks 6gun & speed loader & 90hp ddp nozzles. With a "pdr cam" are you talking a camshaft?

pdr cam is indeed a camshaft and he is probably steering you toward the towing grind at that.

Anyone ever use an oberg oil filter set up?? It's a re-usable filter that you have to take apart to clean and then put back together.

PSM is a ducting kit that supplies the bottom of the factory air box. Sucks air from either the fog light or behind it. If you google psm air box. It will come up; they do advertise sometimes in; diesel mags.
