Oil leak by P/S pump or vacumn pump?

I noticed a small amount of oil dripping from the vacumn pump (in front of the P/S pump)
Its not PS fluid, but black engine oil.

Could this have anything to do with my dash vents/cruise control working intermittently?

THX

Smile Re : leak

I have been working on my leak for a few weeks now ... I first tried just doing the seal in the vacume pump ... If you have any type of groove in your power steering pump ... Do not put your new seal all the way in side your vacume pump housing ... the seal will need a new clean surface to ride on .

My pump had a really bad grove ... I had to replace my power steering pump to solve my problem ... I just installed a new seal in the vacume pump tonight ... the whole job was done in under 2hrs .

If you do a search on leaking vacume pump ... you should find all the info you need to do the job .

I got my seal kit from cummins. it had a double lipped seal in it. i put it all the way, as their wasn't much room to do otherwise. it isn't leaking, so now the only leak I have is the blow off tube.

Yes it can. Check the TSBs from 94 or 95 I believe. Chrysler added a check valve to keep oil from getting into the vacuum lines. The oil caused vacuum accesories to work intermitantly. I realize that you have a 98 but it will be good food for thaught that may help ya out.
