oil leak and loss of power at high elevation

I recently loaded the truck up for a trip to the Rocky Mountains and noticed once I got there that I had an oil leak coming off the engine. There was enough of a leak to see a decent pattern on the oil pan, fuel tank and the rear axle, but when I checked the engine oil it was fine. Upon closer observation it looks like a leak it is coming form the left side of the engine. The vaccum pump is leaking, but would that be enough to make that much of a pattern over a 600 mile trip? Is there anything else on the left side of the engine that people have run across?

Another thing I noticed was that at times at high elevation when I would put the pedal to the floor it felt like half power, tromp the pedal a couple times and then it would run fine. It did that to me several times. I thought maybe it was fuel related, but fuel pressure was at 11 PSI or greater, ran fine though once I got back down out of the mountains. Bad fuel maybe? Anyone else ever have this issue? It is an 02 Quad cab, 4WD with 47RE tranny.

your oil leak is between the vacuum pump and power steering pump. Common issue, mine leaks there as well. Not much of one, but a few drips at highways speed and its all over. Kit is about $60 from Geno's garage.

Not sure about your power, were your egt temps high?

Ordered the kit from Genos today and will replace it by the weekend.

No, the EGT temps were fine, never got above 1100 pre turbo the whole trip. The odd thing is I noticed it started up rough when I stopped and fueled right before heading up the mountains. Then shortly after that the fuel pressure dropped from its normal 12-15 PSI to around 8 PSI for a while and then settled around 11 PSI the rest of the time I was there. It ran great up the passes into the mountains but then when we got to our camp area and went to drive up a steep slope to get to our tent site I made it half way up the hill and then even with the pedal to the floor nothing. Hit the brake stomped the gas pedal and then it went up fine, odd thing is fuel pressure was fine (11 PSI) and I didn't notice any smoke out the tail pipe. Then over the coarse of the week that I was there it did it a couple more times, mainly within the first several minutes of being started up, such as getting out on the highway and didn't seem to matter if I was going up or down hill. During the time out there I think it did it three times. Hasn't happened since and I did go ahead and replace the fuel filter (I have an aftermarket AIRDOG system). It happened both with the Edge Comp on and off. Had me worried there for a while that I might not make it back.

Thanks for your help.

I have cleaned it recently and already had it relocated to a different location over in the drivers fender well area where it is easy to get to.
