oil at intercooler connections.

oil at intercooler connections.
I've been crawling under the truck today checking everything and found two spots that had few oil droplets seeping..it is at where the two air conducts connect to the intercooler radiator two large clamps holding the said air ducts onto the male connectors on the rad.To me this is coming from the turbo who for whatever reason lets some of its bearing cooling oil passing into the compressing air side..am I right? If this is it how normal that is?Could it has something to do with an oil overfill situation? This truck I've just got it and talking with the PO found out that he used to put in 11 quarts plus whatever gets into the filter..that runs approx. 12 and a half total.Reading the owner manual, for my 94,the recommendations were 9 plus one (filter)...the PO told me he received a letter from chrysler telling him to increase the oil Quantity to 11 quarts...on the dipstick the PO filed a mark about 5/8 of an inch above the original last upper mark and this is where the level is now and this is the reference level the PO worked with for few many years now..Altough I can't see the relationship between this possibly overfilled situation and the oil presence at the intercooler connections could it be still of negative impact to the engine? Has anybody here received the same notification from chrysler?
I ran some 750 maiden miles yesterday and failed to register the exact oil level at departure but it could be that it went down by 1/2 quart..not sure
tell me what you think,
thanks,Ronald.

Pull the boot off and make sure there is oil inside the pipes. It could be an external leak from something else. Even if there was oil in the boost pipe it should'nt be leaking out of the boots unless they are cracked. Oil likes to follow hoses and lines making it seem like there is a leak where there is not one. Couple that with the fan and you could have an oil leak at your gas tank if you catch my drift. Good luck and hope you don't need a rebuild.

Also pull your intake hose off and look inside your turbo with a good light for any odd colors. It should be real shiney inside with no in/ out movement on the turbine.

Well understanding how it happened won't fix it,,,next is to decide what to do:rebuild or find a good unit out there.

don't really want to drive it like that, you're tempting a runaway with degraded oil seals in the turbo. I've been with a C7 Cat that ran away, not cool. drained the oil pan in about 25 seconds. thats the only reason it stopped, was it ran out of oil. your engine doesn't want any part of something like that. This engine was in a highway bus, and was in for warrantee work on a blown oil seal in the turbo. engine was new less than a year before. just a heads up on that.
