My buddies 2000 motor is covered with oil from the crankcase breather valve tube that runs down the front of his motor. What's the best way to clean that off. I plan to run a pvc or some kind of tube down past the bottom of the motor. Thanks Jamie

You could take it to a car wash and wash the engine and the back of the radiator to get all of the oil off. Just try to keep the spray off of the electrical connections as much as possible. I take a set of ramps so I can get the underside real good as well.

Spray the front of that engine down with some Simple Green... Empty and relocate that puke bottle. Take it to the car wash and spray her down!! thats what i did to mine.

No, but some have relocated it further back on the frame. The breather has to vent to atmosphere so you want to make any extension as short as possible, and always going downhill with no low spots in the run that oil could pool in and block the line.

I usually extend the tube and run it straight down and tie-strap the end to the swaybar. Some guys use a bunch of elbows and run it to the rear of the engine, but I'd worry about restriction, especially in a climate where it can freeze.

In extreme situations, I've had to remove radiators to clean the fins.

You can also run it straight down....also, use poly/clear tube instead of heater hose. The heater hose doesnt do that well in this application.

He didn't say if it was a 4x4 or not, if you go behind the diff with the hose you'll save a mess there.

yeah sorry 4x4 3500 dually work truck with flatbed and headache rack. He doesn't take care of it very well so I'm trying to help him out. his coolant is a dark brown!! that's next if not first. his philosophy is work it until it breaks and brag about how long it works before it breaks and then complain about how much it is to fix it!!!

You'll only need about 18 to 24" of hose and a plastic barbed fitting to get it behind the diff.

3/4" plastic type barbed fitting (u should be able to find it at Home Depot, Lowes, or a farm supply store)....possibly in the lawn sprkikler section.

You remove the bottle at the front of the engine and attach the barbed fitting to the u-tube thats on the engine and run the hose down the framerail.

Well I don't know how good they are but here's 2 pics of my 2000.



This is looking up toward the end of the breather minus the bottle and the hose running down the left side of the oil pan.



This is taken from the rear of the truck looking forward. The hose passes between the cross member and the oil pan, lays against the diff and I attached it to a brake line to hold it in place. The pic looks like the hose touches the u-joint, but in fact has a lot of clearance there. I put a fitting in the end to try to get the gasses to point somewhat down instead of straight back. The total length of the extension is about 24".
