I bought a oil filter for my 2005 Diesel truck yesterday at the local dealership
The filter they gave me was a Mopar MO-285 for $12 tax included

I have not been able to fine a fleet guard dealer around my local area.
so it was wix, napa or dealership.

When i goggled the number mo-285 i started reading about finding those number filters at walmart for $5

Then other said that filter was for older model dodge diesel trucks

This will be my first oil change (new to me truck) and i did not want to mess it up right out of the gate. Planning on using shell rotella oil 15w40 and a quality oil filter, but did i get a quality oil filter, it looks good, heavy well made.

But at walmart for $5, dude said he bought all they had at that price. Could they carry a lessor quality filter??????????

would you guys use it or should I carry it back, however if you got your oil changed at my local dealership that is the oil filter you would get.

I know my local walmart carries mopar filters for our trucks cant remember the price. but if it says mopar it will be fine.

The Mopar are quailty filters as far as construction but on the bottom end of quality in terms of efficientcy.

Had not thought of this but we do have a small diesel truck repair shop in our town, guess i could go there and see if they could order the fleetguard filters or ask what filters they use.

The Wix 33585XE is better than OEM, the non-XE isn't worth it.

If my only options were OEM or Wix, I'd run the Wix XE, but I would rather pay more for shipping to get something better. I'm not a fan of Wix.

A truck shop should be able to easily get the Donaldson ELF, Fleetguard Stratapore, or Baldwin.

I have used the MO-285 when I forgot to order more Fleetguards from Genos.

You can always go to http://www.genosgarage.com/ to order filters and many other replacement parts. All are very good quality.
