Oil check

Ok I hate to ask but Do I check it cold before start up or after it has ran for awhile?

awalys check motoroil cold, transmission warm.........

How do you do that?

I always check the oil after an overnight sitting. This ensures all is drained down.

SIXSLUG,
that meant that to check auto trans oil warm, not cold engine and warm transmission to check the motor oil.

I gotcha. It actually made sense a while after I posted it. You didn't mean to check them at the same time, at least not on the same vehicle!
