My 07.5 6.7 will display this on the overhead about every 2000 - 2500 miles. Anyone else have this issue?

It happens to me everytime. Local Dodge dealer told me that they working on a flash to fix, but who knows.

Out of curiosity......what types of highways are you guys on and what's your average MPH ? Avg mph = odometer / total engine hours

Owners manuel tells you how to erase. Since I unplugged EGR valve I haven't seen oil change required message.

I have customers that drive there CTD's like a car. Short trips, poor warm up cycles, light loads, high idle time. Change oil comes on due to lots of regen events. On the other hand, guys who run with trailers (heavier the better so it seems) will go 7000-7500 before the change oil reminder comes on. Search on "fuel in oil" and you'll have alot of reading. Fuel gets into the crankcase and the more regen events that are required, the more fuel will dilute the oil. Reseting the light will only be putting your blindfold on. Check your oil level right after your oil change, and then check it when your reminder comes on. You'll see an increase in the level.

Your right J Body. The oil change required message is coming on for a reason. And if it is because of the fuel getting into the crankcase and diluting the oil, causing the oil level to rise, than just resetting the message is putting a Bandaide on a problem. But as far as driving them like cars, Dodge knew these things were going to happen. Not everyone (such as myself) buy these trucks to use hauling 20k lb. loads daily for a living. Some of own large 5th wheels, race car trailers, horse trailers, and so on that need a large truck to pull these things. So on the off time have to use these trucks for their daily transportation. What I'm getting at, some act like its a crime to drive these trucks everyday without having a large load behind them. A lot of us are just trying to figure out how to get around the problems from doing this. JM2C!

My oil change light came on after about 5000 kms (3000 miles) which is a little early. As far as how often the re-gen cycle comes on I am not that happy as I can leave town and the re-gen comes on for about 20 minutes (Edge Insight monitor). I drive about 300 kms and come back to town and within 30 kms it goes into regen again. I think this is just too frequent and I wonder what this thing is doing. I don't have any recent flashes, maybe that would help but I can't afford to lose my warranty so I am not doing any mods.

I do have more in town driving. Never pulled any heavy loads. When I get on the expressway I try to run the heck out of it. I do see an increase in the oil level after a few 1000 miles. I always use the exhaust brake, but agree with the phrase. " drive it like you stole it". My 03 5.9 has never had these issues. The oil looks good at 7000. I just need to drive the heck out of it.

my was doing it also and i took it to the dealer told them about it and they said it was a glitch in the computer they did a reflash and it solved the problem

Mine just came on about 8K after the last oil change. I was starting to get worried that I broke it some how. My comute is 20 miles one way and if I am not driving to work there is a good chance I have at least one snowmobile on the back.

I would take it in and get the most recent flash. The latest flash is supposed to have more tuning for soot control and subsequently less regens.

Jbody, What is a "acceptable" average mph ( Od -div- Hrs ) where it would strike a question of what the truck is really doing in its life and are you able to compare that to the amount of regens when you have a truck in for service to give you a pretty good idea of what type of owner or issue your up against?

From what my dealer said, they will NOT reflash your truck unless you have a CEL on and there is some type of code set.

They will not do a reflash if you ask for one.
