Humidity always goes up as the temps go down, so it stands to reason that it will be higher in the over night hours. We to have 90-100 percent humidity most summer mornings, but as the sun warms the air the humidity has to drop. Sometimes it only drops in to the 70-80 percent! But it has to drop as it warms up, there is no way it can't without rain.

You're gearing should help you. I think I really get hurt by the .410's in my 60ft times.

Well, that is what I would have thought but from experience that is not the case. If you are going to drag race and be competitive you need 355's or 373's. 410's are a big hindrance drag racing. The explanation I received for the reason 410's have slower 60' times on diesels is that they have such a narrow range in the power band where they make their best power that the 410's don't let engine stay in that power band long enough. I agree with that explanation as I'm shifting just about as soon as I get the dang thing in the next gear. I'm going to try skipping some gears next time and see if that helps. I've gotten better at getting through my gearbox quickly and have simlar power to some other guys I head to the track with. My 60' times are brutal compared to the 355 geared trucks (some of that is because of manual vs auto). Now after I get into 5th or 6th gear I can gain on some. I was walking down a Duramax in the 1/8th the other day but ran out of track. I was dead after 60'. Who knows, maybe the DD SBC will help some. I may also be able to launch in 3rd with my gearing, it's just I tried that once on the track and almost stalled it..... [laugh] .....amateur hour. I guess I need to tach it a little higher.....just don't want to break anything though.

I had a early 90's camaro run against me at the track my first time out after the 150sticks and hx55 turbo i had. i pulled a 2.8 60' to his 2.2 and at the 1/8th mile he was barely ahead of me...by the 1/4 mile i had spanked him. he ran like a high 16@82 and i was in the 15.8@97 range...mph was really high with the new HP, just cant launch the 6spd very well

yes sir... awesome. only bad because now if i try to do a burnout with 35's it makes the rear bounce instead of the springs wrapping...but thats ok cuz thats what they are supposed to do

Just ran for the first time last night. 16.0 at 93mph. Smarty on 3, TST COMP on 5. With TST on 9 I ran 16.1 at 93mph. It sucks not building boost at the line.

Blue, why no boost on the line?

Im guessing blue isnt building any boost because i dont think he has billet shafts. Blue your tranny SHOULD hold with small boosted launches. They will really help your times out. You should easily be in the 14s with your set up, 13s are probably possible. Go ahead and lock it in 4wd and build about 6-8lbs at the line.

No billet shafts, no boosted launches. I might try a 4psi or so launch next time. My turbo's not laggy by any means (it's at 40psi before it hits 2nd gear) but with the tighter converter it just doesn't really lite off until 2nd.

I run 15.5's with 2WD, DD2's and an EZ and really have to baby it off the line till after the change into 2nd or them skinny 245's go up in smoke. :(
You ought to be able to coax a little more out of it with your mods.

Rattlin I have no worries about not getting more out of it. Just scared to snap the shafts. I know this thing is a low 14 sec truck. Tire spin definately ain't an issue on my truck.

Yeah, I just read on your other thread where you stated your 60' time which I agree is killing you. I just thought you might make it up a little on the big end of the track. I'm looking for a set of rims and slicks to see if I can improve a little. The biggest help for me would be more practice at getting consistant coming out of the hole. I don't have billets either and will probably worry if I get some tires that hook up. Even though I'm only at 300 hp,,,,, I imagine that might be enough to do some damage if I come out the hole to hard.

My biggest help would be to stay as far away from the dragstrip as possible! [laugh]

He told me he just finished moding his own cp3. I ran my 13.73 without a pusher pump or my water meth kit which will be going on soon. He said he looks forward to some competition and so do i you dont see very many drag racing 6speeds.

From what Johnner (Banshee) told me he leaves in 2nd. He also diddn't have the traction bars when he was running mid-12's, those are a recent addition.

There are a few of us attempting to get our 6 speeds down the 1/4 mile....some just slower than others (ME). A lot of it is the driver as Johnner can get through that gear box. BTW, I'm not coming after Banshee, I know my limits, I'm just out there having fun rowing gears! [laugh]

Thanks for your input buddy!;) You are right, I don't think Johnner has ever left the line drag racing in 3rd gear!:o I know he has tried it on the street, but to my knowledge has NOT actually done it on the track. We will have to see if he gets in here to explain. And Matt you are ALSO right on the traction bars, he has not made a pass with them yet due to our weather conditions here (cold etc.) so we will have to see if they help him or not.

Matt pretty much nailed it. Never have left in 3rd at the strip, and the 12.68 run was w/o the GDP bars. I do have some mods to add to my pump, but as for now the CP3 on my truck is bone stock. I'm hoping to get back to the track within the next few weeks to see what the new bars can do.

No boost at launch is what's hurting him. That truck is a lot faster than a mid 14.

Agreed, My best ever.... before billet shafts... was a 14.2/102.
That was perfect conditions and it was the only time I ever built boost on the line (only 5-6 psi).
