Odometer Calibration

Hi all,

I finally got my first CTD. The first thing I noticed was that the odometer didn't show the correct number of miles back home. I drove a rental car on the way to pick up the truck, and it was right at a 400 mile trip. On the way back, the truck's trip odo. read around 360 miles.

I know this is because of the larger than stock tires. I've read that the a dealer can correct this in the PCM somehow. Is this routine or will the dealer give me a headache about it. Just wondering how many of you have had this done.

Thanks
Brad

Look here: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=72910

Sometimes if you do a quick search, your answers will be readily available.

Welcome to DTR....You'll love this site as much as you'll love your truck!

Thanks crobtex!

I swear I must not be using the search correctly, because I tried searching several related terms and came up with nothing. I guess I'll call the dealership to make sure they'll do it for me.

It will depend on the dealer. You may have to tell the tech how to change it. Many do not know the ins and outs of the DRBIII. If my memory servs me corect, if it is not a factory size, you need to know the res per mile and enter that under the "other" menu. It was about a year ago when I had mine done, so I may be wrong. Someone else may have the exact instructions.

I guess I can expect to pay for an hour of labor??

Also, if I were to get a MAD ECM in the future, would I have to get it recalibrated?

I would hope not. But, you can never tell. It takes less than five minutes. Not sure about the MAD though.
