Odd noise

I have an '03 2500 4x4. When I turn slightly right ( compensating for the road crown ) it makes a funny growling sound, with a slight vibration. I have asked a couple of folks about the noise, and they have suggested the wheel bearing are getting wore. Another fellow figured it was the ball joints. The truck is all original except the u-joints & steering knuckles. It has 142,000km. Any other opinions would be appreciated.
