Lame pick, but nobody votes for the veep anyway. It only matters that you don't pick somebody who scares voters. I think he could have found somebody more exciting but still not a long term Washington weasel.
Just goes to further prove the man's lack of good judgment. At least he was smart enough not to pick Hillary - he'd need to be looking over his shoulder for 4 years. [laugh]

He picked him for his far left agenda and tenure in Washington. The media is already touting Biden as a "Washington Insider" and experienced in foreign policy.
Let's see now.....IF Osama Obama wins, that will leave Biden, then Polosi in line to run the country.........That's really scary!

Take a look at what Biden said about Obama and McCain.

From Joe about the Messiah...
‘I don’t recall hearing a word from Barack about a plan or a tactic.’”
“The more people learn about them (Obama and Hillary) and how they handle the pressure, the more their support will evaporate.”
What a great choice...they will self destruct

before someone posts about how his half-brother is trying to turn Delaware into an Islamic terror state, this is where Biden stands on many current issues:
Supports abortion, but against public funding and partial birth abortions.
Supports death penalty.
Opposes warrantless wiretapping.
Supports 5 year/$50 billion energy/climate change project.
Opposes all new domestic drilling.
Opposes gay marriage- supports civil unions.
Supports the closing of Guantanamo Bay, and supports trying terror suspects in Fed court, not military tribunal, and immediate release of all suspects who have not been charged.
Supports ban on assault weapons and closing the 'gun show loophole'.
Supports 'path to legalization' for illegal aliens who learn English and pay a fine.
Supported the authorization of the Iraq War, then said he made a huge mistake.
Supports raising Social Security payroll taxes (directly conflicts with Obama's promise to not raise taxes on families making under $250,000/year).
Opposes the Bush tax cuts.
in 2007, Biden ranked as one of the 5 most liberal senators, which makes one wonder why a very liberal presidential cadidate, choose an even more liberal running mate.
BTW, Biden's son Joseph Biden III is a Captain in the National Guard, and scheduled to be deployed to Iraq in Oct.

Biden is already swinging at McCain, making this statement today:
"He will have to figure out which of the seven kitchen tables to sit at" when considering his own economic future, Biden said — a blistering reference to McCain's embarrassing admission, particularly during a period of financial turmoil, that he didn't know how many homes he and his ultra-wealthy wife own.
just out of curiousity, does anyone on DTR not know how many homes they own? although i could afford many with my incredible wealth, i've always kept it to just 1, so i don't misplace any tools. [laugh]

so would it be safe to say that you don't know how many homes your wife has?
IMHO, if you don't know how many homes you own (your money or your wife's, doesn't matter to me), you have too many homes, and might be slightly out of touch with the struggles of the average working person.

Here's a cenario.
McCain is in Politics, he spends most of his time dealing with legislative issues. His wife on the other hand has her own affairs and does many things from helping poor children around the world to handling more profitable affairs. One being the ownership of multiple homes and townhouses.
Now After this so-called gaff of McCains I had to think for a minute and I realized that I own 4 houses. It took me a few seconds to realize where I am on that and I do the primary dealing with these homes. I'm not saying that this didn't hurt him in the eyes of the people but if we look at the reality of the situation it doesn't make him any less fit for office. Especially in comparison to Obama.

I love the Obama supporters that try to make him look like the average Joe, a man of the people. People need to get it through their heads that all politicians at that level, are wealthy beyond most of our leagues. Despite what they say they are out of touch with the avarage persons reality. The Dems like to pick on the Republican's wealth well there ain't no poor Democrats running for President so get real. Whatever they say for the microphone they are both going to take it out of the Middle Classes pockets and they are gonna put it their own. The Democrat's just like to throw a little at some feel good causes that put even more strain on the Middle.
Please I don't need any more Wealthy, "Educated" Liberals telling me how much smarter they are than me and that I should let them set the boundaries for how I should live.

Could be that McCain does not know how many houses his family owns because it's not important to him. If he was a true "entitlest", wouldn't he know more about his wealth?

by your 'cool aid' comment, i take it your a deciple of that Rhodes Scholar, Bill O'reilly, whose done for the right what Michael Moore's done for the left. when did i say that Obama has a clue about Joe America? i think he's clueless on a whole different level.
BTW, who might 'me and my little people' be, oh wise and educated one? i'm a Republican who will be voting McCain in Nov., and just find it hysterical that those who drink the cool aid on the 'right' side of the table ripped John Kerry for months about his wife's wealth, but even when it's a liberal republican that falls into the same category, you rush to his defense.
gotta love you guys who think if you mention what's wrong with your own, you're a cool aid drinker who obviously must support the other side- hey if you call me a secular progressive i'll bet O'reilly will send you an autographed picture of Karl Rove!

I like O'Rielly and like Hannity in moderation. O'reilly is more balanced than Sean. O'rielly is much harder on the Repubicans than Hannity could ever be.
Now Tony Snow was a real CLASS ACT!! R.I.P.
And yes Reagan was the best president of my time!! I think history (after all of the liberal B.S. has been disproved) will place G.W. a distant second followed by Nixon, G.H.W., Kennedy, Ford, Clinton, Johnson, and Carter. (In that Order)

Now here is someone I can really agree with about politics, (except for the Kennedy thing, had he not been assassinated in office he would fare right up there with Clinton because all the scandals would have been brought to light IMO.)

That's why I gave him the rating I did. He was a much bigger fiasco than others will admit. Being assassinated seems to make him immuned to scandals.

If you really look down upon someone because they have 7 houses then you have some issues or jealousy problems.
As I have said before, we live in a capitalist country where we can buy and sell whatever we want and own as many goods that we want and that is what makes this country so great.

Then you must need some new glasses.
What exactly is wrong with the country right now? All I can see that is wrong is the education of the younger generation went into the trash because they are so oblivious as to how uniformed and underqualified their hero Obama is. But hey he promises "change" and "hope" so he must be good right?
Do you think the unemployment rate is to high? (Bush held it to below 5% for the majority of his time in office) Do you think we entered into an un-just war? Do you think he is responsible for global warming? (what a crock that is, Al Gore is an idiot) If you want to try and blame the economy on Bush then think again, you can blame the economy on high gas prices which can be linked directly to a democratic congress. A democratic congress that is against drilling and all about the carbon credit/renewable energy junk that will never work. Don't forget to realize, Democrats have always thought we payed too little for a gallon of gas and always wanted to price to go up!

sorry, you're a little behind on the news wire. McCain's staff revised their statement- they started with 'at least 4', then it went to 7, now it stands at 8. [laugh]
BTW, i hope you stood by John Kerry just as strongly, when the right went on the attack for him and his wife having over $1 billion.

Well let's see he did inherit a recession that was compounded with a crashing Tech market and the 9/11 attacks. His tax cuts provided the stimulus to pull us out of the recession and grow our economy to record numbers during a time of war. Even with our current slow down (we are not in a recession) the jobless rate is so low that this country is considered to be fully employed.
Our stock market has declined this past yr but is still right at 2000 points higher than it was at the peak of the Clinton administration. Had the DIMs allowed us to drill back in 2000 when the President ask for an energy bill the economy would be even stronger since part of the decline is from the rapid increase in fuel prices.

That's good for him, if he has the means to have that much then good for him, I would have stood by him on that, just not with his political views.
What exactly is wrong with having 8 houses?

I am by no means a fan of McCain, but when he is all we got to save this country from a socialist I have no choice but to take his side. And as I said before, if you do have a problem with someone having 8 houses (thanks Chipmonk) then you do have somewhat of a socialist thought process. If you got to the point where you are that wealthy, then all the power too you and I don't see what anyone criticizes someone for it.

i think you're taking this too literally (at least from my stand). our gov't is supposed to be run by the people- like us. most of us are just middle class working people, so it seems that maybe the interest of the middle class working man is not best served by anyone on either side who is so wealthy that they own 8 houses, and the fact that they didn't even know how many they owned, seemed to magnify that.
it's not about jealousy (i would not choose to own 8 houses, even if i could afford to), it just shows how are gov't has turned into just another big business, and very far from what our founding father's had intended it to be.

Noone needs glasses to see what this clown has done in his 2 miserable terms in office. He is an embarassment to this county. Wasting TRILLIONS of dollars overseas when people right here need help and OUR tax dollars are funding his nonsense! Yeah, Im the one who needs glasses. Edited by Admin
