NV5600 Problems (Hard to put in any gear)
I know there are a couple other threads up right now similar to this but my symptoms are a little different.
Tranny is extremely hard to get into gear at stop lights. I can hold the clutch in for over a minute and it still won't go into gear sometimes. It doesn't happen at every complete stop but when it does I can hold the clutch forever and it won't go into any of the 6 gears or reverse. I usually end up slamming it into 3rd eventually and slowly taking off.
The transmission might have 20K miles on it. i bought it rebuilt almost exactly a year ago. (one week out of warranty FML) When I installed the rebuilt tranny I also installed the Southbend 3600 dual disc and the upgraded hydraulics. I've had problems from day 1 with this tranny but they've gotten significantly worse in the past week since the drag strip.
Ever since I put this tranny in 3rd gear almost always grinds and reverse always grinds when putting it into gear and now it just doesn't want to go into gear at all.
I've heard its the pilot bearing. I'm open to any and all advice and input. thanks guys.

The symtoms you describe are those of a bad Pilot Bearing which is gauling on the imput shaft of the tranny. Normally the pilot bearing allows the tranny to continue to turn when you push the clutch in which allows for movement and gear selection when stopped. With the tranny locked up, so to speak, you can't move anything inside the tranny to engage a gear when stopped.
You should check it out soon. You may have to replace the input shaft if allowed to continue.

I started having trouble with mine about 1000 miles after I changed the oil to pennzoil syncromesh, I read on here somewhere, about the same problem, I changed back to redline mtl and in about 500 miles it was back to working fine again.

Does it go into reverse ok if you turn engine off? Does it go into reverse if clutch pumped? If going into reverse slowly and it starts to grind does it sound like the grind is because a gear is turning? If its turning the clutch is not releasing.I ran into this many many times on Nissan products. Some was caused by using white lube on the output shaft and over time the clutch material was stuck to the white lube not allowing the disc to disengage as well as pilot bearing galling the out put shaft and such.

Pennzoil is not synthetic , and I read on here that dino oil would build up a film on the nv5600 and cause hard shifting, mine gotvery hard to get in gear until I changed back to Red Mtl synthetic, and it is back to normal now

I also ran into that issue on Nissan's. It was a VARNISH that was tacky/gummy.A change to a better quality gear/fresher gear oil fixed them up in a few hundred miles.Took a few apart initially for that issue and washing gears sets with cases separated fixed them also.It was a LOT cheaper to change gear oil.
