NV4500 Transmission Oil
I have read a great amount of info on this and basically I have not found a reference from any brand who has stated that their product "meets or exceeds the specs for Chrysler Part Number 4637579. I have been sending out e-mails to oil producers and they have been sending me back the same responses, (we recommend this for the NV4500). So I have specifically ask them if the product they are recommending "meets or exceeds the specs for Chrysler Part Number 4637579". I have seen and read many testimonials and alot of hear say but have yet to see it in writing from any company that their product "meets or exceeds 4637579". I will post any responses that I receive.

NV4500 oil change interval
I went through my original dodge manuals that I bought with the truck and I never noticed before but I cannot fine any mention of the 5 speed oil change interval. It mentions only the automatic, axles and transfer case but it does not mention the manual transmission. Is this an omission or was the fluid in the manual intended to go the distance of the transmission barring any contamination from outside sources?

I've found the same information to be difficult to find. I choose to pick up some Amsoil. I have the Manual Transmission, NV4500..........8.0 pints, so I went with the Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90 API GL-4 (MTG).

I have a 93 one ton diesel.
Good luck

I hear those brands all the time.............good ones I guess, Expensive.
But I just filled my 4500 with Pennzoil Synthetic 75w-90 GL-4........it specifically states that it is a direct replacement for GM part #12345371.....which if I recall correctly is the same as Chryslers oil.....Syntorq.
I got it for about half the price for Syntorq right off my local parts store shelf. http://www.pzlqs.com/Tech/Pdsheet/Do...E75W90GL-4.PDF

Up to you if you want to believe them. I personally feel the Castrol fluid is good for at least 100k.

NV4500 Oil
I just got my second reply from Valvoline and this time instead of saying that they recommend, they stated flat out that SynPower 75W90 PN: VV975 meets the specs of Chrysler PN: 4637579 and will NOT void the manufacturers warranty.

I am absolutely certain SynPower won't work.

SynPower 75W90
Yeah it is SynPower. I have Valvolines catalog and I did not see anything in there as far as gear lubes that calls it Syntorx. I had sent an e-mail to valvoline asking them if they had an oil for the NV4500 without naming any suggestions and they came back with SynPower 75W90 as thier recommendation and then I specifically asked them if the SynPower 75W90 PN: VV975 (Which is the Part number they gave me) meets or exceeds the specs for the Chrysler lube PN called out for for the NV4500 and they sent me an e-mail back stating that it does. So I am going to use it as I am a valvoline fan and I have never had any problems with them in the 25 years that I have been using them.

Joseph, I be very wary myself. These trannys are very picky about the fluid they get. It may take quite a while but what happens is the improper oil eats the syncro material.
I know several fluid manufacturers say their product will work fine but have been told by two highly trusted tranny experts to only use Syntorx or Amsoil.
