I lost 3rd gear syncro last night so I am going to be teaing it down friday night and replacing it. I was wondering if anyone knows excatly what I all need. I have the syncro and 5th gear nut. Is there anyting else I will need to get it put back together. I've done one before but it was completely apart so I dont really rmember what it all took in parts for the mainshaft to come in and out. Any Ifno you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

I'm planning on doing a similar job to my transmission... it sounds like mine is in the exact same shape as yours. I guess we have similar driving habits. My 3rd gear syncro is worn and my 5th gear rattles. Can you please take a few photos as you're going along to help all us other "would-be" transmission DIY mechanics. Mucho appriciated.

Mortis, did you end up doing the teardown on your nv4500? I'm getting ready to start mine tonite, I have to replace the countershaft.
