Now what?

Okay, just a lil recap, I replaced my fuel lines with NAPA steel lines flared and bolted to the good part of the old ones. Replaced the plastic 90's with fuel injection line. Started hard, had to keep my foot on the throttle(I figured it was sucking a little air), which I never had to do before. Took it to the dealer for the throttle linkage recall, they couldn't get it started, told me it needed a new lift pump. I towed it home, replaced the lift pump, and still it doesn't start. I also took the overflow valve out, and the spring was shorter than 1/2 inch. I stretched it out, put it back together, and still no start. I dropped the tank, hooked a hand pump up to the fuel line, and pumped till it would'nt go no more. Still no start... The system has fuel pressure, but no start, even squirted a small amount of ether up the intake ram and no luck. I'm out of ides, and have no one in northern NY that I trust to be competant at troubleshooting.

Does the truck smoke while cranking? if it smokes it gets fuel, so the issue might be slipped timing, or that sort, cause you have fuel.

If it doesnt smoke, you dont get fuel into the cilinder...

do you have fuel at the injection lines?

loosen an injection line and crank the engine, see if fuel comes out! if it doesnt, your injection pump doesnt let fuel go through it. then it might be your

- fuel shut off solenoid not coming up.
Crank the engine, and pop the hood and see if the fuel shut off solenoid is pulled up. if not pull it up by hand and start again...

If you have good pressure at the inlet of the injection pump, and the fuel solenoid is up, and still doesnt start, "(you might have a stuck rack inside the pump) which i doubt, and hope its not that! (i had a pump which did that)

pm me if I can help with anything.

No, nothing out of the injection lines. The shut off solenoid comes up, and I cannot lift it higher if I try to.

I drove the truck to the dealer for the recall...

If I argue with them any more I will end up in jail for absolutely losing my good judgement !

What seems to be hapening is that the injector pump is not getting pressure. In the past when I changed fuel filters, and primed the lift pump, I could hear the injector lines getting primed. Now that is not happening, even after replacing the lift pump, and hooking up the hand pump to the lines.

Is there anywhay to check the injector pump? I'm learning this as I go, my 1st diesel, and the truck has been great, and 100% reliable till this year (only 120k on a 97 12 valve 4wd 5 spd extra cab long box).

What is good pressure? And how do I tell? I loosened the banjo bolt going into the injector pump, and fuel leaks out, but it is by no means squirting, like it is under pressure.

No smoke either, the thing is just not getting fuel. but I have a lot of pressure while trying to pump the hand pump. I'm lost for ideas...
