Now I'm screwed. Dealership closing down.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30743464/

My local dealer Island Dodge is on the list of dealership close. What that means for me living on the island of Maui with only 1 dealer is I'm screwed as far as warranty work goes. I have 6 more years of warranty with no one to take it to unless I go off island by barge which will cost roughly $800 roundtrip Now I'm so I will

I believe I would contact your state Attorney General.

Seems like they might not want to let a consumer take it in the shorts like that, especially with only 1 dealer on the whole island.

If nothing else, they might force Chryco to put a warranty/service station within another dealer, etc......

LMAO

Many of the closings don't make any sense. Not as bad as PRSKILLER's situation, but for example they closed all three Dodge dealers in tiny Cedar City, UT and the one St. George (about 40 min. away). Those guys now have to go a couple of hours to Vegas or Richfield I guess.

Also, they closed the three in the Ogden area, leaving the second largest city in Utah high and dry- they've got to go an hour north or south to get service. Somebody at Chrysler needs a geography lesson.

I have used certified shops in the past for warranty work. I wonder if you could explore such a path with our friends at Dodge.

From what I have read so far, Chryco will not allow it.

I agree with SOhappy, not really sure why they are closing so of these dealers. They are closing Southeast Dodge here in Nashville. They were the only dealer left in Nashville. Supposedly, half of the dealers they are closing sell less than 100 cars per year. I didn't think that was really possible!!! I know one thing for sure, I feel bad for the people working for these dealers. I am in the auto industry and I see how hard it is to make a living here lately.

I could only find one dealer closing in Montana and it was in Hamilton.

Although in Montana the dealers are so spread out there isn't that much competition.

I think they picked the closings by darts or maybe who had the higher warranty costs because in the paper there was an article where a 21 yr dealer that was top seller in state for 18 yrs got the dear john letter and a smaller dealer is staying open. Maybe BO is telling them who to close along with how much they can earn, what they will build now etc. Anyone for a new Obamamobile ?

Truck's running like a champ but I hate to think the "what if" this happens in the future. I would call my dealership but they are just as shocked as me and even more worried since they will soon join the collection group. This so called 700 billion bailout plan is doing edit for us here. Can I say Obama deception

4 dealers on Oahu, 1 on Kauai, 2 on Hawaii and 1 on Maui. Seems to me if you have to shut down one Hawaii dealer you would shut one on Oahu. Looks like I should head in the anti Blue-Tech way and do all these mods to save my truck.

The only real reason I could see Chrysler closing down these dealerships the way they are could be based on revenue. The company is in alot of trouble as is, so closing down locations that provide the lowest income to the company seems to make some sense. Though it definatly is a huge inconvience to the customer. Especially those that have to drive(or take a barge) in order to have warranty work done.

As for the barge situation, I'd work with a lawyer and the court system to either have Chrysler reimburse you, or something along that nature for you expenses.
