Notorious blue fuel solenoid wire

I have been having problems with my 97 starting, every now and then it will not start, I either have to raise the solenoid arm or operate the key several times to get it to fire up, I think I have a bad connection at the battery/blue wire connection. I can clean it and go for a month maybe without problems.. Then it will start not starting... I never know when it is going to do it... It do it as soon as I turn it off, or do it after its been sitting... My question is, I have read about replacing the blue wire with the fused link.. I am wondering if you are replacing it with a new factory one, or just cutting it about the fuse link and putting in a new length of 4in wire or so... leaving the fuse link in place...

Thanks
Dave

The reason the wire is blue is because it denotes the amperage of the fusible link. Don't remember the rated amperage but you can buy a new blue link at most any auto parts then splice it in with a crimp on butt connector and eye connector for the battery. Set you back all of $10 max.

Found out the fusible link color code is simple, it's the same as fuses.
Don't see why you couldn't use an in-line fuse if a link isn't available.

Violet-3
Pink-4
Tan-5
Brown-7.5
Red-10
