My OFE is noticeably noisier than the stock one with the clutch out in neutral. Low rpms in any gear and you will hear it chatter. 5th and 6th gear going up a steep hill from a low rpm it will get noisy too. Has done it since I got it put in, and will do it til it comes out and the new DD3600 goes in.

Its worth your money if you want the DD to be quieter! I dont care what kind of clutch it is a 3850 DD is going to make noise.

Put in a OFE from Southbend about 18 months back. Had lots of noise and chatter especially in 5th and 3rd gear at low rpms. Got a viberation and removed the clutch and it was ruined. Talked to Peter at southbend, got another OFE and installed it. Peter said they had made some changes to remove the noise.
Boy was he right. This new clutch is as quiet as the original and no chatter, I mean none. They have made some great changes in the OFE. Also no noise at idle with the clutch in or out. I could not believe the difference.
The new OFE is the way to go.

I think I need to holler at Peter. I'm getting a worsening vibration as i get to 58-68mph and its starting to bother me. New U joints, tires are in balance and rotated, new bearing to fix one issue. Maybe it is the clutch, it has slipped on me quite abit, even when I ran lower levels.

You are slipping a 3800 DD even at lower level... Lol that's the craziest think I ever heard of! I was just a sigle disc kev/cer for over a year with 547 hp at 1080 and ran 13.25s on that time after time! And I pulled my 40 ft PJ flatbed with 20 bales many of miles so there something not right there... I now got a DD and not one issue or to loud, I mean most of us drive straight piped trucks I aint worried about a lil chatter lol my DD had been holding great dor a while in my 04 and my DD in my 06 Dually has been doing great for years and does nothing but haul and drag race

I musta got a new model then, my OFE is not noisy at all. Noise and slow shifting were my reasons for NOT getting a DD.

I don't have a 3800DD though, I have an OFE, rated to 450hp and 1000 ft lbs. It holds right now, but not if I get too crazy with it, as in 0-100mph run ***** to the wall. I'll slip 4th every time. Then if I put my pressure over 50% and pass someone in 6th from below 2000rpm it will let loose if I floor it. beta 4.4 sw7 and 4.3 sw5 will both do this, the 4.2 will break it loose early on sw3. But this truck is a beast also. For now, though, no more playing around and more time babying the truck to keep clutch life.

I don't know what Peter would say, 50k on the clutch, hitting 500hp at times, but 80% of the time it was below or around 450hp est. with a trailer behind, mostly alot of back country roads, lots of stop signs, so going through the gears alot. It shifts great and has done me well IMO, its just the vibration is getting agitating and I'm not sure its the clutch or not....
