no starting goat

jumped in my truck yesterday turned the starter over like i always do and i got nothing. no click or anything. i knew the batteries were fine cause it had started fine earlier that day and all the lights were on on my gauges and the dash. my first thought was where i had put my gauges in something had come loose. so i screwed around with the wires for a little while and i still wasn't getting anything. by this time i'm getting frustrated. so i just left the key turned over and started letting out the clutch and she fired right up. that's when i realized that it had been acting like i didn't have the clutch pushed in. so i cut it off and pressed the clutch all the way in and it is hitting some wire that go through the fire wall right behind the clutch (stupid place to put them imo.) what are those wires? it just bumps them enough that it moves them. so i guess my question is why is it just now starting this? has anybody else had this problem? you let the clutch out a quarter of an inch it will start, but if you have it pushed all the way in it won't. its not that big of a deal until it won't start at all. i was just wondering. thanks

don't know what will help you for sure but, maybe when you depress the clutch it's making contact with a wire that's been worn to expose bare wire and it's causing a dead short to ground either to the clutch arm or firewall ??

just a thought

My truck would not even click or anything when the cluch was pressed. But it would start right up like a champ when it was depressed. Turns out the clutch switch was bad. Warrenty repair, good as new.
