No Start???
well fellas, after fighting pumps i think the vp might have packed it in.i just installed a new lift pump after losing pressure in my lp100 airdog.truck ran strong for 350 kms and was starting to act up with low pressure readings after the initial run.it finally gave in today, engine shut down and re-primed 3 times only ran a short while before stalling out.it will not start after the 4 engine stall.have fuel to the injectors but will not go, only code is a 1693 and nothing else.is this a vp or am i looking for a gremlin thats not there?pressure is strong at around 17 psi from the lift pump this one has me stumped.this truck has eaten up 2 airdogs and 2 lift pumps, this pump is running strong and is only 3 days old.hope some one has a gooder idea!!!!!!thanks fellas in advance.

You gave emotional scared reaction but mot much data.
Perhaps use a scanner to pull codes. You may want to search "1693" for more explanation.
What symptoms led you to put in 2 AirDogs and 2 VPs?

1693 is a companion code. scan your codes. check to see what else you have. seems odd that only companion code is showing. you pulled this from the 3 key method?

airdog was giving low fuel pressure readings, bouncing between 0psi and every thing inbetween.installed new lift pump and ran like a champ at 17 psi running but would draw low wot,6-8psi.the airdog ran like a champ for the first 400km also. im wondering if the ecm aint shot and getting faulty power supply to the pumps?the airdog was not hooked to the ecm, was direct to a fuse in the cab as it would not run pluged into the truck, ecm.i did use the key method but a scanner is out of the question as the closest one would be 4hrs away and no garage in town.will have to do this the old fashion way.and the rig is dead in the water.

NOmad, check with Jim next door in ross river, if you are where I remember you being. I think he has a scanner. He's the guy who bought Ivan's old shop, and used to work for YTG at the highway garage.

Old fashioned way would work with old fashioned non-computerized truck. Mechanical FP gauge indicates fuel to the VP. If truck cranks and doesn't start you can surmise that VP isn't doing its thing. The question is why which is what a scan is supposed to indicate. Throwing parts will be more expensive than buying a scanner. Key frequently only shows the 1693 indicating that there are codes in ECM and PCM. Problem could be anything from air in lines to CKP to VP or ECM or...many expensive parts.

not busting on you guys but the 1693 code is just a companion code, if that code is present you should have another issue, the primary problem (code) may or may not present it self when you attempt and do the 3 key cycle to display codes. you cant say the 1693 is from my abs. there is a no speed indication code that will pop at times. etc. if your not showing another code you need to use a scanner to pull the true code behind the 1693,
