no start after fuel filter change

no start after fuel filter change
2000 ctd won't start after fuel filter change. Not the first time I've changed the filter and I did the starter bump thing to fill the housing. There is fuel in there. I disconnected the fuel line at the front injector and had my wife turn the engine over while I watched. No fuel came out the fuel line.
I don't get any trouble codes from either the odometer or with a code reader. I disconnected the battery in hope that the computer(s) might "relearn" something.
I have a cheapo vacuum/fuel pump tester but not sure where to connect it or if lift pump pressure can even be checked when truck isn't running. There is a valve similar to a tire valve stem on the filter housing only it's bigger. Looks like the right place to get a pressure reading but not sure where to get a fitting like that for my guage.
When the truck had 95k on it the dealer replaced the lift pump and I lost the vp44 at 115k. I know I should have replaced the lift pump with something better but right now I just want to get it running again. Thanks for any help.

Not that I would recommend you do this but... I've read you can pressurize the fuel tank to prime the VP and get the truck started. Once running the VP will provide it's own fuel flow but is very bad on the pump.
Good luck

My favorite trick is jumper a hot wire into the LP connector on white lead. The pump will run continouslly. I do this after filter change and before cranking engine or bump starting. Never misses a lick. JMHO The black wire is ground, so don't make a mistake.

try to remove air from the system..unscrew a little the fuel supply banjo bolt onto the VP and bump the starter, so the LP run and you'll check if fuel leak from that banjo bolt.. you hear the buzzz from the LP when you bump the starter?'

agreed bump the starter, let the pump run. open the ff drain, pull the key out, bump the starter and watch the fuel comming out. it needs to be a steady stream. make sure your lp is working.
