No shift out of 1st, but...
It shifts now!
Hey all -
I, too, suffered the famous "no shift out of first" syndrome. After reading for a couple of hours, I got the code P0720 on my odometer. It began shifting a bit erratically about a week ago, and then, no shift whatsoever.
In about 5 minutes, I replaced the speed sensor on the rear driverside transmission housing, and presto, shifts better than it has in quite some time. As indicated in other posts, the old part was covered in micro-fine metal, and I suppose it wasn't picking up the signal. Of course, I wondered if just cleaning the part would have worked, but for $16, who cares!
I became a board reader about 10 years ago when I owned a MB 300 SEL, and the amount of money I saved through just exploring and sharing experiences was incredible. It's great to save $ again.
Thanks for the collective wisdom.
Cheers.
