No oil pressure on startup

Any advice appreciated on this one. Twice now on seperate occasions I have had 0 oil pressure on startup. Gauge check light comes on. Truck runs fine and has oil pressure just the gauge isn't working. Code comes up as oil pressure sensor. If I restart truck each time it has returned to normal.

Is it common for the oil sensor to go bad on these 5.9's? Batteries are getting old, could a bad ground or low bats cause this?

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction for diagnosis.

about 96,000 miles on the truck so far.

thanks in advance.

check your battery voltage to insure you've got 12ish. Im sure you do or you'd have pointed out slow cranking. check wires, a reading of zero may just broken or rubbed through wire. Run a test light across all your fuses. I doubt its got a fuse for it but its a free test. If your sure its got oil pressure and the ecm is saying the switch is bad, and you cant find any cuts in the wiring or corrosion in the connectors I bet you the ecm is right.

and your sure you've got oil pressure right? Its not something getting sucked up against your pickup line then falling off when you shut it down and restart.

Thanks for the help krh. Time for me to dust off the old Fluke and electrical tools and go dirty wire divin'. I'm thinking it must be electrical or the sensor is bad. It has been random, so I hope its not something blocking the intake line... Can't imagine that would be the case as I change oil more then regular and only use quality WIX or Baldwin filters. I'll post when I find the issue in case someone else runs into the same symptoms.
