I had a no oil pressure problem with my 12 valve at 280K miles. I pulled the pan and found the KDP in the oil pickup tube. A friend of mine used to own this truck he said the gaearcase cracked and started leaking oil at 130K miles. I found a hole worn in the pickup tube. I figure the KDP came lose and wedged between the pickup screen and the crancase for 150K miles until it finally wore a hole in the pickup screen got sucked into the pickup tube then caused the oil pressure problem. I would suggest that if someone has had the KDP disapear and miss all the gears on the way to the pan you are not out of the woods yet!!!

One question does the KDP do anything besides line up the gearcase upon assembly?? Do I need to replace the KDP ??

I would replace the pin. It's there, along with another one, to keep the case aligned as the bolt holes have too much slop.
