Seems how my other thread grew wings and flew off i won't say any names here, seems how aparently you can't name certain brands of products on here so I wan't say what brand I have but it's not allowed here and that's too bad..
Anyways I love it my truck runs good. Finally puts the power to the ground!!!
Thanks V...........

I'll be buying a valair to replace my single disk very soon as well. If I'm not even allowed to say the name due to a dispute between this site and them we are all wasting our time here. As long as they are not pushing product there is no harm done, I come here for information, and that shouldn't be with held due to this.

Free site, honestly the mods can do what they want. Figure if you got burned by a certain company you wouldn't want to give them free advertising.

Yea but deleting a thread cause the v word is un called for! Information is at hand and still don't work
jthorpe

Threads aren't deleted just because they contain the word VALAIR in them. They are deleted because of flame wars, coordinated attacks or other types of things going on that are outside the site rules. As for the product, I don't care one way or the other as to what you buy. I have a neutral position with vendors because it's none of my business as to what they do. If you want to post the results of an install etc, then feel free to do so. What I won't tolerate is flame wars, attacks, insults or cheerleading. If there is an SBC thread going on, then leave it alone. If there is a VALAIR thread going on, then the SBC customers should leave IT alone as well..
Some of you guys are slamming on us for deleting threads when you don't even know the real story behind an action that is taken. Along the same token, I'm not going to explain to you every time we do something. There is not enough time in the day, nor is it any of your business for the most part..

Not saying its bad or wrong, just pretty funny that EVERY thread ends up at the same point!

Oh no, don't back out so fast there Junior. YOU are the one that started this thread with the intention of starting some stuff. So we can let this baby go and we can finish this right here and now. I know you got my pm, yet you didn't respond, and I also know what your previous user name was and yet I've let you stay here. THAT is not normal since it IS a violation of the site rules (which clearly state that such a violation is a trip out of here no questions asked) but hey, I'm a nice guy and I'm also willing to get through all of this crap so that we can all move on. So say your peace and then either stay or leave. Let it out boys, and then get over it. If you can do a better job, I'll send you an application for administrator.

NO, since some people can't read, what we are saying is that you abide by the rules and respect other people's opinions. If you think something is better then that's great with me. Post away. But as soon as you start a flame war between 20 guys on a product, that's where the threads end. ...and if people can't get the picture after being told (since some people can't read the rules) of what is acceptable and what isn't, then they can take a walk.

I don't need to make you believe and I'm not here to beg you to stay. I have nothing to prove to you. You either stay or you don't based on whether you like the site or not.
I will say that a lot of those folks have NO CLUE what goes on behind the scenes on a lot of this stuff, and a lot of those folks won't tell you their own history not only on this site, but some or many others. Some of the biggest trash talkers were some of the worst violators. They won't tell you that though because it doesn't help their pity party, and that's just the way life is. It's kind of like a thug telling his buddies how bad the cops are to him, and how unfair they were. You get one side of the story but not the other.
As for the store, there are HUNDREDS of products spoken of on this site that we don't carry, and a good many of those, we carry the competitors product yet those threads are allowed to stay. The difference is in how you present your posts. If you want to say something positive about a product, I'm all for it. If it works out for you, then that's great. I don't mind that at all. That was part of the reason as to why this place was started. The threads that disappear are the ones that turn into flame wars, or the ones where a vendor has their cheerleaders come over and overwhelm the site with threads about their stuff, or the threads where actual physical harm of another individual has occurred. I could go on with a thousand reasons as to why a thread might disappear. It's a judgement call based on the moderators opinion of what might be happening with the thread and the people in it. The thread does NOT get closed or removed merely for the mention of a product itself.
Again, I submit to you that you don't see a lot of what happens in the background and you don't see the things that people say to us in such situations. My life has been threatened because of this site before. I've seen people come on here and threaten to kill or maim someone else. YOU don't see that because 9 times out of 10, those threads are removed before you get the opportunity to read it. Brand wars are ridiculous. Posting your positive or negative thoughts about a product are what makes this site a tool for people to make decisions about their own purchasing ideas.
Man, I could go on and on about this but why? You either like it here or you don't. You either stay or you don't. Either way it's no skin off my back because I can't afford to care about 70 thousand plus people like I do my own kids or family. I'm just a blue collar dude who started a site and some people hate us because we don't bend the rules for them. Some weirdo sense of entitlement turns into a pity party on other sites about how we're the evil ones. It's somewhat comical at times, but mostly it's just stupid and tiring.
You may not know this, but I sold this site once. Guess what? I got it back and it wasn't because they loved dealing with this stuff. lol

Lary is the reason why USERS are here (on this site) at this very moment, and have this place (DTR) to voice their opinion on why they don't like him. He works hard to provide a free place for people to try and slide by the rules. He is tireless every day to make sure that the site stays up so that people can come on here without paying a dime and tell them they could be better at it then he is, and at the same time, slide in a little advertisement for their product that they KNOW they aren't allowed to advertise. Isn't America great? The land of opportunity I say! Get something for free, break the rules, get caught then wonder why you got banned!! Then, to top it all off, go to 10 other sites and have a pity party with the others who have done the same!! WOO HOO!!! SWEET!
By the way, I'm not saying this to slam you personally, Mudder. I'm saying it in general. So don't take it as me picking on you.

Can you Honestly say that entire post is 100% accurate? Also, do all the mods' follow your same code of ethics? Then if you feel that way, this place isn't for you, would you not agree? And if that's also the case, there are a lot of sites that might better suit you. I'm not saying that to just try and kick you out the door, I'm saying it because there are choices that we all have. If you choose DTR, then that's great. If not, then cool with me. If you leave, I don't trash talk you. If you leave, I would hope that you wouldn't trash talk me either but that's often the case with people. Fine with me. Not much class, but I'm a realist. Could the rest of your staff say the same? Does every mod follow the same code of conduct? Or even better participate in group buys on other sites, which, is a big no-no and then come back on this site and promote another product that is sold in the DTR store. Then magically the thread is erased. huh? I'm not speaking of flaws on other forums either. I understand nothing is perfect but I dont like things that get "swept under the radar" It also seems as tho many of the mods here are either in law enforcement our in the service. I don't know. I'm not their mother.
Does every mod follow the same code of conduct? Or even better participate in group buys on other sitesIf groups buys are allowed on other sites, then I could care less if they participate or not. What's wrong with that if a particular site supports or even promotes it? That's up to them. Again, I'm not their mother.
On the flip side, is it ethical for you to be banned for breaking the rules and then once again, break the rules by registering a new username? Lack of knowledge is not a defense because you have the opportunity to read the rules when you register. As a matter of fact, you click on a cute little button that says you agree to said rules while they are plastered on the screen right in front of you. Nifty concept, but if you want to talk ethics here, there is no question on who I'd pick as a mod.
, which, is a big no-noI and I alone made the decision not to support group buys here. I look at history of other sites (not just diesel sites) and what's worked for them and what hasn't. I've seen other sites go through some real crap over group buys and I chose not to have that here. Blame me.
and then come back on this site and promote another product that is sold in the DTR store. At that time, that person is acting as an agent for us. Is that illegal? Nope. Is it unethical? I personally don't think so. If they promote a particular product from the store, they are doing that on their own. No one forces them to do that, and they have the right to say nothing at all about any product if they so choose. Heck, if they don't like the product, they also have the right to say that as well. I don't care. A product is a product. It either sucks or it's good. If enough people tell me it sucks, then from the store shelves it goes so to speak. If enough people like it, then it stays. As for a particular product that you speak of. I've never seen one, don't know and don't care. You should go back and look at the first few responses you got in this thread if you're looking for something in particular.
This is all fluff, man. Who cares? Of course, I've never personally seen that happen either but maybe I'm just dumb and blind. I've been told that once or twice before. I don't hear too well either. Go figure. ;)
Then magically the thread is erased. huh?Exactly! HUH? I've told you how threads are erased here. I don't think any mod here is a magician. At least not that I know of but as said above, I've been told I'm blind and stupid before. Maybe I don't spend enough time mothering my children. I don't really know. Think of it as Ripleys. Believe it or not. What you believe is no sweat off my back.
I'm not speaking of flaws on other forums either. I understand nothing is perfect but I dont like things that get "swept under the radar" It also seems as tho many of the mods here are either in law enforcement our in the service. You'd think that person-s would no better.Whoa, you've lost me now. You kind of sound like someone who's speaking on something without an understanding on what you're speaking about though...
I can see that you're the type of guy that no matter what I say, it's not going to change your mind. So why bother? In the end, you should just play in your little sandbox and we'll play in ours. If you stay, great, be constructive and participate. If not, great, do your thing somewhere else. I guarantee you this, I won't trash talk to you. I hope you wouldn't trash talk me. If you do, then we didn't want you here anyway.
You seem like an intelligent guy; I mean really, would you want to provide information and resources for someone who hates you and tells all his buddies how bad you suck? Unless you're some kind of sadistic nut, I wouldn't think so. ...and no, I don't think you're a sadistic nut. I wouldn't want that to get around comp d and CF as well. [duhhh][laugh]
I love getting some popcorn and a beer, then reading the "I got banned from DTR" threads on some of the other sites. It's very intellectual reading, and enjoyable I must say. So many wrongly banned folks everywhere. Every post is so perfectly accurate and so truthful. hahahaha, you'd think I just do it for fun and that none of them have ever done wrong. Great stuff.

I think that if 'Mr. Administrator' says it, it's pretty dang near the truth. Not that I cheerlead for him because he's my boss, (by the way, I do the moderating here, as do the other mods, for free... we do it for the love of the site and trucks), but because I know him personally, and he's a stand up guy. He is also very fair, but does not take any crap. Black and white, plain and simple. As for the question of us following the same 'code of ethics,' I think so, pretty close, at least. We administrators here have a like mindset, and we work together well.
As for the statements as to how we conduct ourselves, and promote certain products and bash others... I think that when I give an opinion on something, it is from personal experience, and I try to remain as neutral as possible on stuff that does not work for me. If I'm wrong, please show me, and I will correct myself. Some of us, the same as the majority of other users here, feel that when a certain product that we have used is a good piece of gear, and we like to talk good things about it, no matter what it is.
It also seems as tho many of the mods here are either in law enforcement our in the service. You'd think that person-s would no better.
What's that supposed to mean? I'm confused about the purpose of this statement, so I'll ask for a more clear explanation instead of assuming anything.

Some how I dont think he was talking about you. Its a certain mod on here who bashes the poo out of a quite a few companys saying their products are junk and the owners are crooks. And honestly it gets old, quick. You'd think as a mod a certain person would be a little more mature about it, and if you come on and say the opposite as this one mod, you gone.
Also, it kinda sucks too, because a lot of these people are extremely knowledgeable and thats why me and know quite few people are starting to stay more at the other site where these guys with tons of knowledge are at now. Now there are some guys here who are still know their stuff, (Mills, Barber, Don M), but for the most part the others who arent sponsers of DTR, but just as smart have been run out of town.

I've been close to getting booted I think, mostly due to cheerleading issues, but this is the first diesel forum I ever joined and that was 2 years before buying my first diesel. I've learned tons here from some pretty good folks who are very "into" diesel, 53willy's is right up there and Lary has helped out along the way too, I like to think I might have even helped out a few people along the way too.. Some good people with tons of knowledge to share, and there's some great deals in the classifieds from other members.
This place allows us to have up to 250 PM's, seemingly unlimited subscriptions (I was up to 600 until last night's cleaning), unlimited signatures and lotsa pictures in our galleries, many of these features on other forums would only be part of a paid membership.
I have friends who run a fly fishing forum, they were moderators on another forum before starting their own. They do take a lotta crap and work pretty hard for (what seems to me) not a whole lotta rewards. Running a forum or volunteering as a moderator is a thankless job and I know sometimes in the heat of the moment they **** us off, it's still one of the better diesel forums around in my opinion, if I got into another heated exchange and did get banned I'd be pretty mad at myself.
(So if we wanna play in their sandbox we gotta play by their rules (even though it pisses us off sometimes!) [coffee]

I'm sure i"ll be in the dog house with penalty points but well said!! :o

At least I have never seen the Moderators on here called Communist 1st amendment rights killers. I moderate on a forum that has some tight rules on content and language. We tend to make those posts go away that cross the line and we are always beat up on for smashing their rights to free speech. They just do not understand that what they say in a private forum (even if it is open to the public) can be very limited and has nothing to do with the first amendment. We are about a 10th the size of DTR but I know what time it takes to keep the house clean.
Keep up the good work guys.

That's a very arguable statment....
I'll jump in on this, and give my say, too...
What's that supposed to mean? I'm confused about the purpose of this statement, so I'll ask for a more clear explanation instead of assuming anything.
Hey, boss... blue what? ;)
hmmmm must have slipped your mind the group buy you wanted in on Dieselbombers. eh???
hmmmm.....
CHROME? [laugh]
NOPE... Good guess tho... But he is a **** good friend of mine.. Which you guys changed his password to his account so that he couldn't log in, instead of just banning him because he posted about his support in a Valair Club... Oh but wait then he posted on CF about how he was upset at your "Moderaters" actions and then you banned him.. Just like all the boys from Oregon and Washington who got banned becasue they were talking about DTR.. Where's Chris?? Dodzillz04?? Hmmmm

You obviously don't want to touch the jab at the law enforcement leaders here and code of conduct. I think that is probably most of your beef from all the fluff I can read through, and there is lots of it.
Maybe if you have been around long enough you would remember the ATS vs DTT threads that locked down the TDR...What was the point of that? 7 years later and both companies are still doing fine..

Junior, you just need to go because nothing we say or do is going to make you happy. You don't like it here, just get over it and move on. Seriously, why bother with losers like us, ya know? Go have your pity party somewhere and leave it alone. Half the stuff you're talking about is absolutely ridiculous. Who cares if someone from here participates in a group buy from somewhere else? You're sitting here hammering a guy who I would trust with me life. Go away man.
;) This one is done for now. I enjoyed the open conversation fellas. PM me if you've got questions, I'll be happy to answer.

Hey, boss... I'm gonna jump in here and put one last thing in... just to clear up one of the statements...
hmmmm must have slipped your mind the group buy you wanted in on Dieselbombers. eh???
Yeah, I asked about an exhaust buy... I think that was it... No denying it. We just don't do it here.
Just for the record, so I don't look like I'm hiding anything...
Back to your normally scheduled locked thread... ;)

Like I said, you're allowed to do what you want out of this site. I could care less and this guy worrying about it makes him a tool. I'd rather have you as a moderator than this tool any day of the week.
