no more drone!
dont know if it will work for everyone, but my wife was complaining about listening to the turbo whistle and we were going to pull the boat back so I put the silencer ring back in for the trip and no more drone !

the only thing that I could think of was the sound of the turbo getting into the exhaust and echoing . not sure , not a mechanic or engineer but it worked

Yea, little weird. That is a pretty high frequency to transfer from the compressor side to the turbine side. I have removed and put back in the silencer ring on mine. I didnt really hear anything dampen, most of the intake noise comes from an aftermarket intake. You have an AEM, I have the AFE.
I can say that the MBRP's can be a little noisy. I just have there muffler on my stock setup(w/ meow meow still in) and that added alot of bass to exhaust sound and it does drone a bit at highway speeds. Might look at a donaldson muffler with your setup. Alot of guys like them on here and they really cut out the noise with a flow through muffler.
