NO IDLE UPDATE - Not 4KGSK or OFV ploblem!
Well, after all the rant & raving about possibly my "4K GSK retainers" or "Fuel Overflow Valve" or "fuel quality" possibly affecting my idle, I have finally figured out the problem!
Two weeks ago, I finally got my Fuel Overflow Valve replaced, after a lot of grinding on the head to get the old one out...that is another fun story! Well, started the truck up, still idling good. So I decide to go an fill the tank up, had less than 1/8 of a tank left.
I fill the tank up, go about 1/2 a mile and the idle starts acting up again! To make a long story short, I decide to take it out on the highway to run the engine up a little. I did a couple of strong starts, and after this the engine was idling fine. It has idled great ever since!
Update to my theory? I believe that when I filled the tank up, the splashing of new fuel in a low tank stirred up debri in the bottom of the fuel tank, which then got sucked up ito and possibly clogged the fuel pickup.
Anyway, I now do not let the fuel tank get below 1/4 anymore!
I am thing about putting a combo fuel filter/separator downline from the LP, possibly mounted on the frame. Has anyone done this? At the same time, removing the existing fuel filter in the canister, leaving the canister empty. This will make future fuel filter changes a lot easier.
Let me know if any of you guys have had any experience with this, would like to know about your thoughts on this! Thanks for listening! Eventually, I guess I need to drop the fuel tank and clean it out.
