No high beam lights
My 02 doesn't have any high beam headlights, when you switch to high beam the lights just shut off. Some history, about 6 months ago leaving a wedding reception at about midnight I didn't have any lights. Parked the truck for the night and got a ride home. Go the next day and everything is working fine, yes I tried the high beams and regular lights then and the evening prior. I changed the fuses for the headlights in the engine compartment when I got home and they tested good with an ohm meter but looked a little burnt and corroded. Now I don't normally use the high beams but with the bad weather and dirty lenses I went to flip on the high beams on a dark road and I had no lights at all, flip back to normal and they are fine, If it switch back and fourth several times I'll get high beam lights until I switch them again and then there is a 10-15 switch cycle to get high beams again. Fuses look fine and I'm not sure what the switch actually does or how to trace the wires.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I've run into this a lot on trucks where the highs are rarely used. Dust and grime gunks up the multifunction switch contacts. The open design of the switch doesn't help.
Most times just flipping back and forth (exercising) cures the problem.
If not flip back and forth repeatedly while spraying the base of the turn signal lever with electronic cleaner.
You can prevent this from happening again in the future by exercising the brights occasionally, lights don't even need to be on to do it.
