No Heat
I haven’t used the heater very much recently, but yesterday morning I could not get any heat out of the defroster, heater, or vent. Plenty of airflow and switching between the different modes of the heater control, the airflow works like its suppose to. The AC works, just no heat, no matter where I turn the heat control ****. The truck is low mileage (less than 30K), coolant level OK, and engine operates at normal temperature.
I’m guessing it’s the blend door or control valve sticking under the dash. Any suggestions what the problem may be?
I’m still under warrantee, but I may do this job myself even though it will cost me, just don’t want the tech at the dealer screwing thing up under the dash.

There is a "spacer" between the blend door and blend door motor that is prone to cracking and won't allow the door to move. There is no "valve" on the ram trucks. You can check this by rolling your carpet back and dropping the door actuator (motor)down. It it held in place with two screws and the second is accessable using a 90 degree screwdriver or a phillips bit in a 1/4" socket held together with electrical tape is my favorite. You will also have to trim (butcher!!) the insulating pad for room to access (don't worry, the carpet will cover the damage) With the key on you should be able to go from hot to cold and watch the motor run. You'll see the adapter I'm talking about at this time. If it's cracked, it is available separately.

I know exactly where this door actuator (motor) that your referring to is located. I already been peeking around under the dash and behind the glove- box looking at the AC/heat unit. I’m going to work on it this weekend hope the adapter is the problem. I won’t take my truck to the dealer for warrantee work unless it’s an expensive fix.

I removed the blend door actuator (motor) and this adapter was OK. The blend door actuator doesn’t move when the key is on and the temperature control is rotated from cold to hot and vise versa, so it must be a bad blend door actuator or temperature control on the dash.
EZ box is out and truck going to dealer Monday for warrantee work on heater/AC system.

Based on my expierence, the cold to hot **** is a electric reostat.
I had way to much heat or no heat at all. That was in the middle of the **** setting. One click to the left and it was cold. Two clicks to the right and you had to open the windows.
The part is around 70 dollars retail.

If this had happened a week or two weeks later, I would not have noticed until Nov-Dec and my warrantee is up at the end of Oct.

Update:
Truck went in Monday and finally out today (Friday). Before the truck went in for service, I told the service department I pulled the actuator motor and my analysis was that it was either the actuator motor or the dash temperature control rheostat.
Monday afternoon the service department calls me and tells me the technician decided that the thermostat is stuck open and they would have to order one and truck would be ready Wednesday. I knew the thermostat wasn't stuck open because the truck would heat up normally and operate at normal temperature.
Wednesday about noon I call and check if the truck is ready and they inform me there is another problem besides the thermostat (I knew this was coming).
Here is the list of items used, I checked and these parts were replaced.

.... Door-A/C Temperature
.... Condenser-Suction and Discharge
.... Cover, Heater Core Tubes
.... Receiver Drier/Filter
.... Actuator-A/C Temperature (no kidding)
The total bill listed at $545, it was warrantee work I did not have to pay.
I wonder if it was just the actuator motor or if all the other items needed replaced also? Now that the warmer weather is here, I’m happy to know my heater work.

CostalDav, I think my truck is doing what yours did. After removing the blend door motor to check it's functionality the hot/cold **** on the dash will only give me all hot or all cold air, nothing in the middle (this did not happen before I took motor off to troubleshoot). did I fry something just by removing and re-installing the motor? I can turn the **** to all cold and have full cold, then start turning the **** one click at a time clockwise to blend in warm air but the motor does not start to move until the indicator is at "noon", then does not stop until the door is fully open.

Thats want mine did. Either to hot or to cold. It was this time of year when mine went out. Check to see if there is a ground wire that might be off. Other than that, the only recorse is to get a new motor.
I did not pull mine out when it gave me trouble. I just had it changed out.

I'll check the wires today and see if all is good. I thought it was ironic that it just started doing that after I take it off to inspect the blend door and shaft. Do you by chance have the part number for the motor?

So I went to the dealer today to pick up a new motor and adapter. If I remember correctly other folks have purchased the motor for about $40 and the adapter for $2. When I was given the quote, I was surprised to say the least. Is this a decent price or can I get it at a better price somewhere else?
