No Fisher plow for Diesel Ram?

I stopped in to get a quote on a plow> he keyed in 2500 Laramie, Quad cab, long bed, and diesel and said he cannot put a plow on it because of the weight up front even with the snow plow prep package. He could not tell me why and said "I don't know, go try another manufacturer" > Anybody know if it is just because Fisher makes a heavy plow and what other manufacturers that I will NOT have a problem with.

Thanks

I can't give you a difinitive answer, but I had a fisher on my 91, and it was one heavy momma! I now use almost exclusively meyer and the weight difference is huge.

That's because of the diesel. It is believed that the truck will be full of passengers. Between that weight, the engine and the plow, it overloads the front axle. I would go to a different dealer. I am sure you can get somebody to install it.

When I was looking for a new truck. I came across an 04 QC CTD Long box with a Boss plow on it. It was an 8 footer. I own a fisher and love them but it seems people that buy Boss are loyal followers also. I would not recomend that Hinkler. Probably very hard to get parts for. At least when the snow is flying you can easily get parts for the Big 3 plow makers. Fisher/Boss/Myer

You are probably the only one that thinks this plow is the Best on the market. A 3 piece trip edge!!! What if a piece of it breaks during a storm? That plow is completly useless. Break a cutting edge on a straight, You just unbolt it. Hinkler makes a great large commercial plow 10ft range. But the little one are just so so. And have as many problems as the Blizzards.

I've got a Fisher EZ-V on my 05 QC SB. The dealer looked it right up. I already had it on my older f250 so I just bought a new mount & had them install it.

I have a Western Pro Plus 8ft on my 04, no problems. Truck barely squats when the plow is lifted the whole way up. The "Quick Match" program on their website said the biggest I could fit was a 7 1/2, but the dealer said the 8ft would be no problem on the truck.

Thanks guys, I think I will try the local Western or Boss dealer. I have a feeling that it may just be the fisher because of the weight.

Put some Timbrens on the front. They can't much more than the others.

They do. I got on Fisher's site & entered my truck & got a 7 1/2' RD Series w/ MM2 or the 8' HD Series w/ MM2. Use Fisher's eMatch.

I just did that and it does not give you the diesel engine option. 5.7L V-8 is the only option. So the plow guy was right. No Fisher with the diesel engine. I just did my old Silverado and you cannot get it with the diesel engine either.
