I have an 01, short bed QC with an auto trans. Runs great but occasionally (and the frequency SEEMS to vary with how loaded it is) I will get a warning chime and the idiot lights will come on one or two at a time, usually starting with the ABS light. The lights are followed by the gauges going to the low peg, then the speedo and sometimes, but not always, the tach. Finally the odometer gets a 'no bus' message. It may stay this way for a few seconds or until I stop and restart I never know. It doesn't seem to affect the way the engine runs, the tranny works or even the cruise control.

anyone ever experience this and have a solution? The one local garage is stumped and suggests maybe a reflash of the computers?

Under the dash (behind the knee panel), there is a connector for a large wire harness that feeds the instrument panel. You can check this connector and make sure it is clean/tight. Hopefully it's just a bad connection, but it may also be the sign of an instrument cluster going out. Mine was doing it intermittently, then started to get more frequent. Ended up replacing the cluster and all was good.
