I am looking at getting some Nitrous for my truck. My question is do i have to get a nitrous kit specifically for a diesel. I thought all nitrous kits are the same. If i get nitrous is my stock turbo and clutch going to handle the add power. Nitrous kits for diesel application are expensive compared to gasoline kits.

Any input or advice on what I should do performance wise is appreciated.

I would imagine that youd have to upgrade turbo And clutch ATLEAST, if your runnin nitrous. It will boost your egt's like crazy so the turbo will help there. And a sudden burst of extra hp will definantly put a strain on your tranny.

The difference between diesel and gas nitrous kits is the size of the components.... Most good diesel kits use 2 .125 solenoids plus large nitrous lines, and probably a progressive controller. You should also get a good heating blanket, preferably one with a pressure switch to control bottle pressure.

Your engine and turbo will not like nitrous as the exhaust housing is way too small. You can install a large external wastegate to keep pressures in check though. On another note nitrous will not do you any good unless you have a lack of oxygen to fuel ratio. Most have pump mods and large injectors that use nitrous.

Based on your sig you would be much better served by modding your pump, istalling bigger injectors, and a larger turbo.

THanks for the input Doug. I am going to order a GSK Kit this week and in the future a turbo upgrade. i don't wont to spend alot of money though, witch is why i was looking at nitous in the first place.

3k or 4k kit?

Personally I would get a 5K kit. You may never want/need the rpm but you will have full fuel to a much higher rpm. Also with anything over 3K you will want to upgrade your valve springs........

I'd grind yourself a 100 plate for your pump. Install the 4000gsk and have the truck timed at 16. The nitrous will raise your drive pressures to extreme numbers with the stock charger and exhaust housing which will blow your headgasket and you won't get much bang for the buck with nitrous on the diesel anyway until you are pushing alot of fuel. I'd hold off on a nitrous install until you had the head studded and oringed.
