If you tow I'd say trans. Not sure if anybody local does 'em right, you can check with the trans vendors to find installers that are local. DTT and ATS are the two big names, others I've heard of are Suncoast and Goerend Bros. I prefer to row my own gears so I don't know a whole lot about the autos.
If you're just playing around with the truck, exhaust would be a good next move.
If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge yet, get one.
I'm a few miles West of Philly.

transmission, FASS fuel system, turbo - your exhaust temps should be smokin hot with 01 auto, has hy35 turbo, very small & restrictive - inefficient at much over stock boost levels. Exhaust system also, size depending on what power level you plan on stopping at.

transmition, whats wrong with them? whole thing needs a goin over or just a new converter?whats the deal
exhaust seems to be trivial i can do that anytime
i dont tow to often
justt owed six bikes down to myrle beach and back but other than that mostly small stuff

HY-35 is the model of turbo your truck came with. The exhaust side is very restrictive. An HX-35 based hybrid turbo like a PDR-35 or an HTT Stage III would be a good upgrade until you do injectors. Then you'll need a big single like a B-1 or HTB2 or even a set of twins.
What needs to be done to the trans depends on your final goal. For now a converter and valve body would do you, but if you keep on upping the power you'll eventually need things like extra clutch plates in the packs and a billet input shaft.
Exhaust is a help with EGT, but you are right that the stock exhaust is not holding you back power-wise right now.

who do i go to for the extra clutch packs and billet blah blah blah (just kidden)
id prefer to do a full build (dont like to do things twice )
injectors. someone please educate me on injectors and new turbos. On my race car the bigger the turbo the bigger the lag the more stall needed with the converter, the less drivability you maintain. what is the best power i can get and still be my lovely truck i drive everyday. Yes i have been bitten and it feels good.
oh yea
the car is up for sale if you know anyone interested in a clean 27000 mile turbo TA 1989
puttin the money into another bike, house and yes my truck

With the auto, you could be limited to about 500hp before a laggy single starts affecting driveability....then it's time for twins!!!
A Kwik-Spool version of a B1 should move planty of air for 450-500hp with some fancy wastegating, but above that, I think twins are the only option!
On the auto tranny, DTT or Goerend(sp?) is who I would look at, but don't limit your search on my suggestion, I'm a gear jammer!
HTH,
Chris

ok an auto truck . tranny here we go first thing call dave goerand and talk to him if you can wait a few months on the tranny hes going to be offering a smoking deal on billet inputs and center shafts here soon as his guy that makes them for him gets them all made up . you will need a tripple disk converter and a vavle body . while its all apart check the clutch disks and plates . this is also a good time to step up to bigger pinions inside the tranny . and other cool tranny inside parts.
throw away that hy9. then get you a set of twins and bigger sticks ie 150s or some were in that area.

genros,
Before you go much further with your modifications, why don't you search out some local owners who may have some of the things you are considering already installed on their trucks. Most owners would be more than happy to take you for a ride/drive so you can see what some of the possible combinations of modifications will do on your particular vehicle. This way, you can get an idea of where you want to go and avoid going in a direction that you may not be happy with in the long run.
If you do not know of anyone close to you, feel free to make a Saturday trip out to the western part of the state. We have a group of friends here that have examples of trucks ranging from mild daily drivers to all out competition trucks that you can take a look at and ride in. If nothing else, I'm sure that you would be in for a good time.
