Just installed my new power/heated tow mirrors on my 2001 Ram 2500. They are the bomb! Ordered off of ebay at carparts.com for 189.00 for the pair. They said they came w/out the brackets, but when they got here, the brackets were in the box! Only 45 minutes to put on. If any body wants a set of sport mirrors I have a set for sale!

barnburner,
I did the same thing last year. Bought the tow mirrors from the same location, ordered brackets also so I would have them for the install. Now I have a set of brackets I don't need. Nice mirrors though. I am really happy with mine.

I will be honest I don't know about the '97 model year. The second gen trucks did have tow mirrors available as an option so you don't need to get 03 (3rd gen) mirrors. You will just need to look for ones for your year. Try Fleabay like Barnburner and myself did.

I got mine here. www.fenderworld.com
They have the manuel or electric/heated. Just make sure you get the towing brackets to make them more stable.

I have a 97 and wanted the heated mirror feature, so i bought cipa tow motors for an 01. The power mirror switch itself is the same,.but the mirror plugs are different. Plus you gotta add the relay and switch for the heat. I'm glad I bought the heated mirrors, but it does require some wiring and creativity to make them work.

When I ordered my truck in late 94 I didn't get the power mirrors because the first thing I did was change to tow mirror from camping world. They lasted to 2010 and would not stay in place. I opted for a manuel flip up mirror from fenderworld like the 3rd gen love them. I did not need the heat and just flip them up when needed. I was on some horrible roads in AK last year and they never moved where I had them set. The wiring is behind my door panels if I ever want to go that way. Probably never will though. Total cost was 248.00 I believe the power is about 300.00

The plugs are different for the 98.5-02 models, but you can get a crossover connector, or cut and splice them with bullet connectors.
Somebody on here will buy those brackets in the for sale section if you want to get rid of them.
I also have a pair of manual flip outs nobody wants!!
